The Olympics

There are SO many reasons to be proud today:
  1. I am Canadian
  2. I am a Vancouverite
  3. WE WON THE HOCKEY GAME
  4. We capured the most gold medals EVER in the winter games (14)
  5. We had a great Olympics and I was so happy to be in Vancouver and play a small little part in the celebrations:

This is me and my high school Vocal Jazz Choir performing at one of the Olympic stages
in Vancouver. They sang really well and it was great to spend the
day amongst all of the action downtown. Great memories were forged that day.

It looks like Canada threw up on him, but Phoenix was not alone! Everyone in Vancouver
wore similar outfits bursting with national pride!!

This was us watching the gold medal hockey game today. Pretty exciting stuff!!
After the game you could hear the cars outside honking their horns for over two hours!!
We went to get groceries shortly after the game
and there were people on the sidewalks in head-to-toe Canada gear waving flags
and cheering!

GO CANADA!

P.S.... i did a little crafting this weekend too and I'll be posting those efforts tomorrow.

The Stamping Boutique hosts a "Cute Card Thursday" challenge!

Grab that ribbon and come join The Stamping Boutique this week at the challenge over at Cute Card Thursday. As always there is a fantastic prize up for grabs from TSB, but you have to upload your cards on Cute Card Thursday blog.

Here are my cards using a cute apron image:

This card started out as a scoring accident. Totally scored on the wrong line then I thought
"I could be one of those people that invent new folds!!!"
Realizing that I probably didn't invent a new fold I was just proud of myself for
being so adaptable! lol!!

Underneath the patterned paper on the top flap and the main panel there
are some little magnets that keep the flap closed!

This last card is clean and simple with a touch of lace that
matches the paper and image perfectly!

Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Neenah, Bazzill; Digital Stamps by The Stamping Boutique and all sentiments are SRM Stickers; Ribbons by May Arts; Magents by Basic Grey.

If you do, please use keyword JBE094 when uploading to SCS or PCP or leave a link to your project in the comments section of this post!

Fun with Stickers!!

I got my goodie box from SRM the other day and...

pardon my french....

HOLY CRAP!

My husband said it looked as if I was having a craft orgasm.. TMI... hahaha..

There is also some good news for those of you wanting some SRM goodness:
The online store is now live!!!

I used Quick-Cards Hello on this card. This was literally a 2 minute card. So awesome!
The background paper is some older Making Memories paper from one of those
coil-bound notebooks..

I used a sticker from Express Yourself - Explore.
All you do is apply a sticker to a piece of cardstock, cut it out, and pop it up on foam squares!
Viola! Custom embellishment!

This last project features a sticker from Sticker Sentiments - Thank You. I stuck the sentiment
to a piece of kraft cardstock and cut out around it.

Make sure you check out the SRM blog because this design team is WOW..

Have a great day! I'm gonna watch more Olympics. Go Canada!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge: Try a new fold..

Welcome to another fun Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenge! This week our challenge is to try a new fold. There are tons of tutorials on SCS for fun and funky folds! We would love for you to play along with us! If you do, be sure to use keyword JBE093 when uploading to SCS or PCP or leave a link to your creation in the comments section of this post.

I made a card using a gate fold. Click here for a tutorial.
I basically did the same thing except my card is 5x5, so I scored at 2.5 and 7.5.

And I just LOVE how that elephant (named Otis) by Whipper Snapper turned out!

The paper is Cosmo Cricket (back in stock!!) and the sentiment is an SRM Sticker Sentiment.

Visit the rest of the Jacksonbelle Gals for more fun with folds!

Crazy news!

A few weeks ago Jenyfur at SRM Stickers held a design team
call and on a whim I applied.. Guess what??

I MADE IT!!
The team Jenyfur has put together is star-studded and chock-full
of incredible talent..

To celebrate I made a few projects with SRM Sticker Sentiments:

The sentiment is a sticker on some patterned paper and cut out to
look like an expensive patterned tag!

I made this box to house my hubby's Valentine's present. There's
a border sticker along the bottom, and LOVE is a sticker too!

I am SO excited about 2010 with the SRM DT and Susan, the owner.
SO many great things are to come and I am so honoured to share in the excitement!

PS... Canadian Alexandre Bilodeau won the men's moguls at the Vancouver Olympics. It's the first time Canada has won a gold medal on home soil!! We are having a big party up here, and hoping this is just the beginning of
our gold streak! YAY Canada!!!

A CPS Sketch!

I think I'm nearing the end of my Valentine's kick (I have NEVER made this many
Valentine's cards in my LIFE!) so here are the last few
lovey-dovey cards you'll see. (Hopefully....)

Becuase this week's sketch is sponsored by Papertrey Ink, I thought I would use
my favourite set by them, Polka Dot Basics, to create a little interest on the smokey paper.

The two hearts were cut with a Cuttlebug die. The black heart is felt, and the pink heart is PTI ink paper.
I like the cluster of "stuff" in the centre.. It's a nice focal point.

I did another card that I don't like that much:

I tried the Coredinations cardstock again.. I've tried it before and didn't like it. I tried it again...
And I still don't like it. :( Maybe it's because I'm starting to gravitate towards cleaner
papers and clean designs, I don't know... Maybe it's the colour I used.. I don't know..

What do you think?

Supplies for card #1: PTI products: Raspberry Fizz paper and twill, Smokey Shadow paper, Polka Dot Basic stamp set; Patterned Paper is KI Memories (i think!!); Making Memories pin, Basic Grey button, bulk felt from Michaels.
Supplies for card #2: Patterned paper by My Mind's Eye, PTI Pure Poppy paper, black/yellow cardstock by Coredinations; Ribbon by American Crafts; button and twine are generic items.

Things I love

It's Jacksonbelle Tuesday and today's challenge to be inspired by things you love.
Use colors, embellishments, etc…that represent LOVE to you!!!

Here are some things that I love about papercrafting:

1) Clean and Simple stamping. An image, a piece of patterned paper, an embellishment or two and it's done.
You gotta love these easy cards!

2) Trying new things. On this card the hearts are a stiff felt material cut out with a cuttlebug die.
I don't know if felt is here to stay, but it was fun trying it out!

3) Patterned papers. I LOVE patterned papers. I'm addicted. But it's okay, because
the colours and patterned always inspire me like they did on this card. The colours of the image
are unmistakably from the colours of the paper. I love that!!

Check out the ladies for more "love"ly inspiration!

PTI Challenge: Emboss Resist

I gotta admit, I am super excited about the announcements
happening at Nichole's blog and today's post is no exception! I was always
confused and not really sure I was using the gallery properly for their guest star stamper thing they
do all the time.. It's going to be a weekly challenge, and because I basically only do challenges,
this thrills me to no end!

I HAD to play along with the first challenge which is Emboss Resist. (Watch the
video in the post I linked in case you want to know more about
this technique). I don't do this technique often because I find I use patterned paper
on almost all of my creations instead of stamped techniques that re-create the patterned look, but it
sure is a nice way to feature your solid/silhouette stamps.. Take a look at what I made.

Yah, it's the name of the card, but I LOVE this card. Yummy!! The colours I used
to make the background are: woodgrain background stamped in Sweet Blush, then
sponging was done in Berry Sorbet. The ribbon is Pure Poppy and the cardbase
is Smokey Shadow. (All colours are Papertrey Ink).

Can you see the subtle woodgrain pattern in the Damask stamp? That's the magic
of emboss resist.. Love it..

Okay so I'll share some other cards that I don't love the same way as I
do this one, but none-the-less, I really like them too!

So those are my emboss resist cards!

PTI Stamps used: Polka Dot Basics, Beautiful Blooms, Damask Designs. (The woodgrain stamp is from Hero Arts.) Other supplies: Making Memories letters (red), Silhouette cuts (Valentine's Day), May Arts ribbon (white), SU! Scallop Punch.

The Stamping Boutique

This is my first official card as a DT member at The Stamping Boutique and I am just so thrilled with the images I get to play with!!! Every Thursday there's a sketch challenge and this was today's sketch:

I moved a thing or two around, but this is what I made:

I have a LOT of Valentines paper, not only from this year, but from MANY years past.. This is one such paper. (Heidi Grace). I paired the papers with AJ with heart banner and wouldn't you know I had the perfect Basic Grey brad to match??!!

*AJ, and most of the images from The Stamping Boutique are digital images, which means you pay a one time fee (usually around $2-3) and download them to your computer. You can resize, recolour, and reproduce to your heart's content. I print my images on my "Copic paper" and colour as I would any rubber or clear stamp!

If you would like to play along upload your card and add the keyword "SB,SSC5" and show us your work at the TSB Challenge blog!!!

Take care!

Papertrey Birthday Bash Challenge

This challenge excited me. Papertrey is leaking some
big announcements and one of them is Becky Oehlers is going to design stamps!!!
Why does this excite me? Well she created a digital stamp as a free download
and the challenge was to use it.. Wanna see?

I love this! If this is a taste of things to come from Becky, well I'm hungry! lol!!! (cheesy, I know..)

Becky always stamps her sentiments on little pieces of paper and cuts them out like a flag.. It worked
perfectly on this card. I told Ian that I'm keeping this card for a while. I really like it! haha..

take care!

Supplies: Stamps by Becky Oehlers and Papertrey Ink; papers: Papertrey Ink (smokey shadow), white (neenah), patterned paper (Paper Salon); Copic markers, Basic Grey button.

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge

It is time for another fun Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenge!  This week Lynda gave us the fun challenge of using Buttons, Bows and Brads.  You don’t have to use all of them…but you can….any combination…use only 1 or use all 3!  We’d love for you to play along with us!  If you do be sure to leave a link to your project in the comments section of this post.

I used a new image from The Stamping Boutique that I was dieing to colour and a
Basic Grey fabric brad I have been hoarding.

This is a new layout for me. It felt wierd to glue the image to the card base. Usually
I pop everything up on foam squares but I couldn't with this card! On the bottom I stamped a heart
image from my FIRST stamp set called "Simply Said" by Stampin' Up.. Oh the memories..

The inside:

For more inspriation, be sure to check out the blogs of all of the Jacksonbelle Rockstars!

Here are the Copics used in today's card. (I will try to do this more often for you curious ones out there..)

Elzybells Challenge

I was itching for a challenge so I played along with the Elzybelles this weekend!
The challenge was to make a card with a hand-stamped background.

I used three different stamp sets on this card: Faux Postage, the hearts are from Hey Cupcake,  and the sentiment and ladybug are from Mini-messages- Critters. All of the cardstock
is Papertrey ink, as well as the ribbon. (Raspberry Fizz, and Ocean Tides. The ocean tides
layer was embossed with a cuttlebug folder then sewed onto the base.

Take care!
