Twelve Trendy Days: Day 1.

So, my friend and "boss" Kimberly Crawford (of Mint Motif stamps) approached the MM design team and asked us if we'd be interested in playing along with a little Christmas challenge.. I said YES, but not every day (the crazy life and schedule of a high school music teacher around Christmas time is starting to kick in) and I wanted to play this first day just so I could let you all know about it! Every day there's going to be a different challenge and lots of inspiration, so if I'm not posting, be sure to check Kimberly's blog to see who is... AND PLAY ALONG!

So today's challenge is Mercury Glass:

I own two mercury glass ornaments and they were a gift, and are very precious to me (and heavy!!) but sadly I don't have a lot of supplies that would mimic the look of it besides silver ink.. hehe.. Kimberly has a tutorial done up and I can't wait to see it, but I'll show you what I did:

I covered the back side of clear buttons with silver pigment ink (colorbox) then sprinkled some Ultra-thick embossing enamel (UTEE) on them and applied heat.

I drew the lines around the card as well as the bauble wires with a Copic Multiliner pen (I copied the idea from a Papertrey Ink stamp) and stamped the sentiment with black ink. This card couldn't be easier, and SO quick to pull together. Do they look like Mercury Glass??? From a distance maybe?? haha.. I had fun anyway. Thanks for stopping by!

Moxie Fab Trigger

What a yummy inspiration! I haven't played along with the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger challenge for a while, but this one just caught my eye. I am *so* loving the whole kraft/white/red thing right now and had to create something along those lines.

I used a bunch of random snowflakes stamped in white, then created my main sentiment with a Mint Motif set called, I've Got Your Number from i {heart} papers and a brown pen! Do you ever get nervous writing on a card-front? I do, and luckily I wasn't shaking when I wrote this:

Do you see my handwriting?? At first I just had "25th" but I thought it needed a little extra something. I used a brand-new purchase, the "Loopy Squares" Nestabilites die and doesn't it look awesome? I love it. I used a Copic marker (E53) to colour in the numbers, and isn't that a perfect match for kraft? I was pretty pleased.

Have a great Monday!

Inspiration: Bedding!

The inspiration challenge at SCS is such a unique challenge to me because some of the stores/artists that are picked for inspiration are totally not my style, but it really stretches me to find something that works for me and ultimately I usually end up with something I'm happy with!

This is the card I made using "I've Got Your Number" and Crate Paper "Snow Day." (both from i {heart} papers)

Thanx for stopping by!

Yummy Christmas Treats

What, you thought I baked? hahaha.... I don't bake, I cook. Not because I can't, but because I LOVE it and if I baked it I would eat it.. It's a cycle I don't want to start around here. So I "cook" up little tags and cards and attach them to PURCHASED baked goods satisfied with the compromise.

I made this card for this challenge at SCS: Just Desserts. I searched through all of my Christmas stamps and this is the only stamp that is food/dessert related in my whole stash! I am sure glad I have it though, this turned out so cute!

Thanx for visiting and have a great weekend!

Tubes...

A tube:

I saw this tube and heard that we were getting some to play with and I was like,
"Uh...."
Nothin'... I was thinkin'  and thinkin' of what I could do with these tubes and nothin' came. They came in the mail and I was still like,
"Uh...."
Then one day I went grocery shopping with the fam' and right near the till I saw the festive Holiday Hershey's Kisses and picked up a bag. I took them home, dropped them in the tubes and then, the mojo started flowing! Yay for chocolate! hahaha... This is what I made:

The snowflakes were cut using the Making Memories Slice. I decreased the size by .5 inches and then layered them on top of each other.

A clean and simple design with an SRM sticker (Live Life - Christmas) smack-dab in the middle. I mounted the stickers on white cardstock and punched them out with a 1 3/8" circle punch.

I have a band of two patterned papers (American Crafts) going around the tube. It's fairly thick paper and I had to use Sookwang tape AND Glossy Accents to keep the papers in place. The snowflake is tied to the tube with twine so the recipient could slip off the snowflake and use it as an ornament!

For more tube-a-licious inspiration check out the SRM blog for the next few days.. We've been creating up a storm, I tell you! Enjoy!

December is Coming!!

Are YOU making Christmas cards in every spare moment? I am, and I don't even send out Christmas cards, these are all to sell/give away! I like it though, it helps me use all of my neglected stamps. I could probably make 100 cards and use a different stamp on every one. Pretty sad, if you ask me, but I can't resist!! Here are a few cards that don't use stamps, though... Don't ask...

There's a secret message in the pocket:

I used SRM Sticker Sentiments: Happy Holidays, and Quick Cards: Merry. The papers are from last year's Cosmo Cricket collection (that I still LOVE) and the tag holder is 7 gypsies.

This is an uber-traditional colour combo using new Pink Paislee papers (Father Christmas) and trim... That star is a really old Basic Grey chipboard shape that I sprayed with gold glimmer mist, covered in glitter, then about 5 layers of UTEE.. It's funny how simple and plain it looks after so much work.. Lesson learned!! haha..

Take care, and happy card-making!

Virtual Stamp Night

Every few months Splitcoast Stampers has two nights of challenges called Virtual Stamp Night. This time around I was able to finish 6 projects, two of which I shared with you yesterday. Here are the rest:

  • There are 3 snowflakes in decreasing sizes layered on top of each other. They were cut with the Slice.
  • The patterned paper is by Lasting Impressions.. I LOVE this colour combo for Christmas...
  • Finished off with the *perfect* SRM sticker.

  • I bought a Crate Paper paper pack yesterday forgetting that I already owned it.. DUH! So I'm on a mission to use it up. I was also reminded that I have a bunch of Christmas sentiments that fit in the SU! Word-window punch, so I put that to use as well!
  • That moose is from  Kim Hughes set by the late CHF...

  • I love this stamp and sentiment. I special-ordered the sentiment because it's so perfect for ME, and for this stamp... I gotta use it more this Christmas...
  • This is more Crate Paper BTW...

  • I also have a bunch of last year's Cosmo Cricket Christmas papers that I need to use up.. This card is a result of me throwing a bunch of scraps on a card and seeing where it goes....
  • The sentiment is by Hero Arts.
Thanks for stopping by!

Introducing Mint Motif's November release!

I'm stoked to announce *my* first release with Mint Motif. There are two sets being released this month. The first is called I've got your number:

and here's what I made with the set:

(inside)

  • I used papers and chipboard shapes from Snow Day (Crate Paper)
  • "2010" was stamped in brown ink and cut out.
  • "Christmas" and "planner" were cut out with my Silhouette.

The second set is so creative, and so much fun to play with! It's called What a Card:

  • I used the numbers from the first set in conjunction with the heart from the second to make this perfect replica of a playing card. I fooled my husband and my son, so I know I did a good job! haha...
  • a standard playing card is 2.5x3.5 with rounded corners... easy eh?

Both of these sets are now available at i {heart} papers!
Check out to see what the rest of the fabulous design team created:
And, there is a chance for you to win! Kimberly will draw two names from all the comments left at all of the design team’s blogs and they will win either What a Card! or I’ve Got Your Number. Be sure and leave comments on each blog because it gives you more chances to win!

Marvelous Marvy!

Today I am sharing a product made in part by the Paper Trimming Buddy.

This product has 8 decorative blade styles (some of them similar to those craft scissors we all have and don't use) but with this system you don't have to worry about cutting in a straight line! Here's a card I made that has a scalloped border on it cut with the Paper Trimming Buddy:

I have a tip: when your swapping out decorative blades for the straight blade, turn the rubber cut guard around and have one side for deco, and one side for straight! This will ensure that when you're wanting to cut straight the blade will start a "straight groove" and won't be all wonky from the deco blades.

Marvy is so generous again and gave SRM 4 cutters with all of the blades to give away to 4 lucky commenters. Visit the SRM Blog if you would like to try this cutting system out.

Thanks again for visiting!

Mint Motif Sneak Peek

I am so happy for this day: I get to finally show you what I've been doing with my brand-new Mint Motif stamps! Kimberly definitely has her finger on the trendy pulse because these stamp sets are sleek and modern, and they have infinite potential! I made one card for each set that's being released, and this is the first:

  • I stamped the same woodgrain image with four different inks and adhere them to a 4x4 card.
  • the wide ribbon (SU!) and the sentiment add a little whimsy to the formal design!

  • The background was embosses with those little cuttlebug folders none of us use (you know the ones!) and inked with yellow ink.
  • The numbers were coloured in with Copics, and that is one of the features I love about this set: numbers big enough to colour!! yay!!
  • This card was really fun for me! This set really has limitless possibilities and is an instant classic in my collection.

I have seen what some of the other ladies did, and their cards are gorgeous. I have linked their blogs below...  Have a wonderful day!

Marvy!

Remember when we used to say "marvy" for marvelous? "That's so marvy!" hahaha.. Well, Marvy Uchida was very marvelous to the SRM DT because they sent us some new products to play with. Who doesn't love new tools?!?! Today I am featuring a couple products made with the Quick borders Craft Punch.

The system allows you to punch a border along the bottom of your cardstock seamlessly with no user error! I don't know how many times I've seen people try to fiddle with their border punches just to mess it up. Another thing that's great about the system is it's compactness. Once you have the ruler/punch set-up, all you have to buy are the cartridges that are fairly small and therefore storage is not an issue with this product. So all-in-all I am a happy customer and am looking forward to more border punches to add to my collection!

If you want to try this system out for yourself, Marvy was very generous and they gave SRM 4 punch systems to give away on the blog! Go check it out

It's a colour challenge!

Red, Turquoise and White.

This is a new-to-me stamp set and this was it's test run... I stamped the trees in versamark and heat embossed them. Then I sponged a couple of different inks in and around the trees. Then I stamped the snowflake stamp in white ink and heat embossed that as well..

Supplies: Stamps: patterned pines (SU!); Ink: ranger - broken china, PTI - hawaiian shores; Paper: PTI; PTI ribbon, SRM sticker sentiment

Featured Stamper: ME!

I was hangin' out with some friends last night when I got a little *beep* on my phone letting me know I had an email. I looked at it and literally went "OH MY GOD" in a high-pitched voice! "I AM TOMORROW'S FEATURED STAMPER!!" After I calmed down and realized no one knew what I was talking about, I explained what it was: It's a weekly challenge on SCS where the hostess picks one stamper per week from the thousands of people who upload to the site, and you have to pick one of their cards to be an inspiration for a new creation! Today that's me!!! My friend Kim was hosting this week and chose me.. Aren't I a lucky girl??? So needless to say, I had to play along...

I chose this card that I made a LONG time ago but have always loved:

I changed a few things here and there, and this is the fresh, new take:

I used a gorgeous Technique Tuesday stamp called, Damask, stamped in white on the background. The card and sentiment cut out with my Silhouette, and the butterfly is a Stampin' Up! die... Thanks again Kim for this day!!

Love Birds...

Okay, I finally finished this card and I'm sharing it with you tonight!! I started it a few weeks ago by stamping all of the elements out on paper and then they sat there on my desk.... Then a few days later I coloured the tree... Then a few days after that I finished colouring everything... Then a few days after that I chose papers.... Then a few days after that I CUT the papers... Seriously people, this was a 2 week card and it's a relief to finally show you!!! hahaha..

Was it worth it??!! I LOVE this stamp set! It's a There She Goes set called Happy Day and that heart in the tree is a separate stamp that's made to fit on top of the tree, so I coloured it red, then paper pieced it on top.. I have a request for anniversary cards, so this fits the bill, me thinks!

Take care!!

Lovely, lovely fall...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Hallowe'en! My little family had a great day from beginning to end. Starting with chocolate-mint waffles for breakfast followed by pumpkin carving, movie watching, then putting on costumes. We took Phoenix trick-or-treating to a couple of different destinations (our house, his Uncle's, my parent's) and it was a great night! I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Special Note:
If you commented on the Mint Motif Design Team announcement on my blog or any of the other ladies blogs, Kimberly has drawn the winnersand she announced them on her blog, For the Love of Paper!!
You have to email her by tomorrow, so go look for your name...

Bye-bye!
