The "Brand New"Technique Tuesday Blog Hop

Hello!
Welcome to the "Brand New" Technique Tuesday blog hop.
Technique Tuesday’s Stamping Techs are blog hopping again, and we are delighted this month to share with you some cool projects made with some of the new stamps Technique Tuesday is debuting this week at the CHA trade show in California.
I had a lot of fun putting this card together and playing with a brand-spanking new set!

Beautiful yellow daffodils. I love it when they show up in early spring and I couldn’t resist pulling out all of my unused yellow inks, paper, glitter pens… Not so much a fan of the yellow, but for this flower, how could I not??? This is a set called “Daily Daffodils” and besides the striking image there are 5 sentiments.

Specifics about the project:
  • I first stamped the image with a light yellow ink, then I used the “Rock ‘n Roll” technique around the edges of the stamp with a shade of dark yellow.
  • after the image dried I highlighted the original artwork with Copic Spica pens in gold and clear to give it some glam
  • The basic grey papers used originally had the red and black inking around the perimeter of the paper (6x6 pad) so when I cut out the pieces I replicated the inking with Ranger Distress Inks.

We love reading your comments so we will have some random draws for prizes.
From the comments received on all the blogs, we will pick one lucky person to win the Flurry stamp set.
We’ll also pick one person to win the Missing You by Ali Edwards stamp set.
You don’t need to comment on all the blogs to be eligible to win. But the more comments you
leave, the more chances you have to win!

I think that Leah is my favourite Whimsie Doodles character.. If you’re a colouring freak like me you will love having her in your stash. I chose Echo Park papers (For The Record) and an obscene amount of Copic markers to match:

She already comes with lots of fun, but if this isn’t enough she has a kit to accessorize to her hearts content! Whether she’s moving, heading off to school, or enjoying a ride she’ll surely make tracks into your heart.

TSG January Sneak Peek–Day 2

Today is day two of this month's new release from There She Goes, and we have another ADORABLE set for you to LOVE!! Friendship and coffee are a good blend to send greetings near and far. Torico has created a darling set to perk up the one "mug" you’ve been missing. An absolute must for those sweets and treats without all the calories!
photo (4)
Coffee, tea, hot chocolate…. I am a sucker for anything hot in a mug and that goes for stamp sets too! Sets like this make me very, very happy!! I love all of the “extras” that come with this set.. Those plump little hearts just make my day.

I coloured the mug with Copics (E40, 41 and 43) to look like a mug with a plaid pattern. I picture giving this card to a man, so I stuck with a neutral colour palette..
Perk Up! is a 4x8 set that includes a total of 36 stamps and will sell for $18.00.

Would you like to win the new Perk Up! stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. Hey Everyone. It is time for this month's New Release Blog Hop Challenges to start, and we are SO excited! This month's sets are SURE to have you at first sight. We can't wait to get started!!
photo (3)
I coloured up this cute nurse image with Copics then paired her (I think it’s a her) with some old but good papers from WeR. Remember a few years ago when we all paper pierced like crazy?? Well, I loved doing that so I thought I would do it again for old time’s sake. What the hay!!

No "bots" set would be complete without Nursebot! Torico has done it again. She warmed your heart last month with Lovebots and this month she’s going to make you feel all better with Nursebot. What a great way to send well wishes then a visit from the Nursebot!! Nursebot is a 4x4 set that includes a total of 11 stamps and will sell for $10.00.

Would you like to win the new Nursebot stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post. You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning new stamps! There She Goes (Again)

So the TSG design team and I are revisiting some oldies but goodies and we’ve all made some new cards with these sets:
I made a card with Buckets of Love.. Here it is:

IMG_0115

Love, love, love how this turned out.. I used what I thought was a winter-themed nestibilities die, but it turned out that the set (ironwork accents) was just a fancy-dancy all-year set… YAY!
I also made this card for today's Free for All challenge: use more than one heart..
See you soon.. Thanks for stopping by!

Miss You

I’ve been a little busy behind the scenes getting ready for classes at my LSS and some DT work, but I also have a lot of “love” themed cards to get ready for Valentine’s Day.. Here’s a quick card using some Technique Tuesday stamps and Basic Great “Two Scoops” paper and chipboard:

I used a set called Just My Type to make the postcard, hearts from Loving Words, and the sentiment is from Belle on a Bike.

Too Late…

IMG_0098

I actually got my butt in gear and made a bunch of cards for the latest Paper Crafts call BUT I didn’t get a few of them uploaded in time… OOPS! So this is my version of one of the go-to sketches. I used a classic Nestabilities die to cut the hearts out then popped up the white paper on top of the striped patterned paper. The sentiment is from a pack of die cuts from the new Basic Grey line called Kissing Booth. It all seemed to just…. come together. That’s the beauty of a sketch!

Thanks for stopping by today!

TSG138–Paper Piecing

This week our challenge is brought to us by our Trendsetter of the week- Jackie! She has challenged us to make a card or project using the Paper Piecing Technique. Here’s my card:
IMG_0092
I just got this set in the mail and had to use it for this week’s challenge. It’s called Let’s Get Together and it’s all about the coffee! I am a coffee and tea junkie and so are most of the people I know, so this set is meant to be in my life. hahaha. A little paper piecing on the “sleeve” of the coffee cup and it’s done. How easy is that?!?!

Details: All papers are My Mind’s Eye “Alphabet Soup.” All die cuts are Spellbinders.

To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project using the paper piecing, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (January 16th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!
By participating in this challenge, you may also find yourself in the Trendsetting Spotlight that shines on the TSG Blog every Thursday. We will be on the lookout to find challenge cards that stand out and show Trendsetting qualities. TSG stamps are not required to participate in the challenges but are appreciated :)

My Favorite Things - Get Sketchy

I decided to have fun and play along with this week’s My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch. I don’t know if I’ve ever played along with a MFT sketch, but it was a good push to dust off my stamps and make a pretty card! lol..

Here it is:

IMG_0066

Isn’t that just the cutest stamp? I don’t know how long I’ve had it, but I know that it was brand-spanking new.

IMG_0067

It feels good to use products that have been sitting around unused. I think as crafters/addicts/shoppers/hoarders we all aim to use what we have and curb the spending, but it doesn’t always work out like that, does it? I’m not going to make a resolution or anything, but I am going to AIM to use my stash more. It’s crazy with CHA just around the corner, but I’ll try to look away. just look away… hehehehe..

Take care! Thanks for stopping by.

Playing with Colour…

I decided to play along with the colour challenge from Splitcoast today, it was a good one:
Basic Gray   Island Indigo  Lucky Limeade
Basic Grey, Island Indigo, and Lucky Limeade. Nice combo, eh?
Here’s my tag:
IMG_0051
This is a tag with a number of products on it, but I’ll try and fill you in as best I can..
  1. I stamped the “ink blot” looking image (PTI’s Damask Designs) with Denim Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist… Yes, you can stamp with it. Dry with heat tool.
  2. I painted most of the tag with olive coloured “Glimmer Glam” and let it dry.
  3. Then I misted the whole tag with Turquoise Glimmer Mist and the glam acted as a resist, so only a bit of the turquoise sunk into the paper.
  4. I then stuck some black ribbon down and adhered the sentiment stamped in grey on top. (Sentiment is from Kids are Cool from Technique Tuesday)
  5. I adhere the rosette (Pink Paislee) on top.
IMG_0052
This is a close-up of the resist section. I loved how it turned out.. It’s always fun to try new techniques.
Take care!

A Year In Review - 2011

Hi there! It's become a little bit of a tradition for many bloggers to do a "year in review" on or around New Years, and it's become one of my favourite posts to put together. I have had a wonderful year of cardmaking, designing for: SRM Stickers, Whimsie Doodles, and currently: There She Goes, Technique Tuesday and Mint Motif. I have also gained quite a few new readers (YOU!) and I am so happy that so many wonderful, supportive people have joined me on my crafting journey.
But without further ado, here are my favourite cards from 2011: one from each month.

And yes, the last three fav’s were TAGS and not cards, and that’s something that I will remember this year for: my new love of tags, Tim Holtz stuff, and distressed/altered items. LOVE it.

So thank you, readers, for all of the love and support, and I hope 2012 is a happy and prosperous year for you all!
