iSpy Sketches 18

Can you believe it’s June already!!??? I have finished off almost all of my music concerts and classes are gearing down.. It’s kind of sad. Bitter-sweet.. The summer is almost here, but I’m gonna miss my students – especially the grads. Ah well, I just have to try and have as many good times as possible with them while they’re here, right??!!

This week the iSpy Sketches team are highlighting LeAnne Pugliese (LeAnne Pugliese @ SCS) and is based on this card.  LeAnne has such a recognizable style that is second to none!! Here’s my card:

beautifulday

Interesting colour combo for a girl’s card, but I wanted to use my new October Afternoon 9-5 papers! The paper piercing was done with my sewing machine purely because it didn’t want to sew – the thread kept snapping!!! So holes it was and I ended up loving it! The stamps are from There She Goes and they’re called Once Upon a Time and Beautiful Day.

Here’s the sketch:

Birthday Blooms

Hi again! I’m here to share with you another class I’ve designed for Clipper Street, and this time the focus is on My Mind’s Eye “Nostalgia” papers, my favourite Hero Arts stamp set (Posies) and Ranger Distress Markers. All of the colouring was done with one marker/section (ie. the yellow flower was coloured with ONE yellow marker, the leaves/stems were coloured with ONE green marker etc…) to show the students how easy and QUICK it is to get a beautiful coloured image in a snap!
Here they are:

Fun, eh? Again, if you’re local I’d love to see you come out!! Thanks for stopping by!

Button Bonanza!

I’ve spent the better part of the weekend preparing and putting the final touches on a couple of new classes that will be offered at Clipper Street in July/August. As always, I aim to make the cards challenging, interesting, educational, and most importantly, beautiful! It’s never an easy task, designing a class, because you never know what the customers are going to go for, but all I can do is do my best and hope it does well!
Here’s a class I’m calling “Button Bonanza'” for obvious reasons:

greatest-joy

thankyouforbeing

ijustloveyou

buttonthankyou
(this last one is my favourite!!)
I used the stamp set Loving Words by Ali Edwards for all of the cards, but tried to use buttons in different ways to keep it exciting! If you live in the area I’d love to see you come and play… The calendar will be ready in a few weeks and you can sign up then!

Let me know what you think! Take care.

TSG June Release Day 4: Oh Crop

Our fourth and final set for June's release is SURE to capture your hearts and tickle your funny bone!!
Oh Crop is our second set from Melyssa this month, and it has STOLEN our hearts!! The flying pigs, the picturesque scene, that ADORABLE farmer…really, how could you NOT love this? You don’t have to be a country girl to know that THIS set is a Blue Ribbon WINNER!

What I love most about being on design teams is all of the inspiration.. Really.. I have worked with some really amazing cardmakers through my DT work and each and every team has so many gifted people, how can I not take something away??!! This card was inspired by our TSG boss: Jessica because she always makes the most amazing scenes with her stamps. I was also inspired by Wendy, because she made a card last week with some rolling hills and she did little dots in 'em just like I did here, and I loved it!

I made the scene by stamping the pig in the mud then drawing (with a Copic multiliner pen) the rolling hills in around him. I stamped the flying pigs and clouds and began the gargantuan task of colouring it up!

Oh Crop is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 21 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

Would you like to win the new Oh Crop stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post.

May Greenhouse Society Day 2

Hi there! I’m here with a second look at this month’s Greenhouse Society stamp set from Technique Tuesday.. This stamp is an “instant classic” and I am totally smitten..
IMG_0972
I love this stamp in any colour and I thought I would give it a go with white on grey… Love it!! What a quick and easy birthday card, right? I kept trying to fiddle with it and add stuff, but I think this stamp is great on its own.. I mounted the main panel on some white cardstock then onto a cardbase of that lovely turquoise blue.. Voila!

Head over to the Technique Tuesday blog to see what the other Greenhouse ladies did with this set! Thank you so much for stopping by! I’d love to hear what you think of the Greenhouse Society stamps so far…

TSG June Release Day 3: Cute as a Button

Thank you SO much for participating in all the blog hop challenges so far this month, TSG FANS ROCK!!
Today's set illustrated by the EVER fabulous Torico will DEFINITELY appeal to the crafter in you...and we can't WAIT to see your reaction, so let's get to it!!  What can we say about this new set from Torico other than…it’s Cute As a Button?! The perfect sewing set for ANY crafter, full from top to bottom, end to end, with as MANY stamps as you could POSSIBLY need to make the perfect card or scrapbook page, this whimsically cute set is sure to have EVERYTHING you need to celebrate the crafter in your life!

I had a great time putting this card together. It was one of those instances where I had NO idea what images I'd use, what papers I'd use... ANYTHING! So it began with me stamping the background with cream ink:

There are a bunch of long border-type stamps that I like to use for backgrounds. I never know how to use borders as borders, so that's what I do! Then I stamped the main image and it just took off after that.. luckily! lol..

I had to sew on the card (with this set how could I NOT?) so once the image was all coloured up I sewed along the top of the panel.. twice!

Cute As a Button is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 33 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

Would you like to win the new Cute As a Button stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. TSG June Release Day 2: Flava Sava

Here we are on day TWO of this month's peeks, and we are bringing you a set by our fearless leader, Jessica Knutsen!!
Excuse me, I MUSTACHE you a question….is this NOT the CUTEST set?! Mustaches, and puns about mustaches are all the rage right now and we couldn’t help but add a little TSG flare to this FABULOUS trend! The possibilities, and uses, for this set are endless…and just ENTIRELY too funny!

I chose to stamp a really CAS card to feature these 'staches. I borrowed half of the sentiment (my daddy) from TSG's When I Grow Up cause I was thinking of my own mustache-bearing dad when I saw this set!

Flava Sava is a 4x4 set that includes a total of 14 stamps and will sell for $10.00.

Would you like to win the new Flava Sava stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. There She Goes June New Release–Day 1

It's that time again, There She Goes Fans!! Yep, you guessed it, it's time for our June release!! We are SUPER excited to bring you FOUR days worth of FABULOUS stamp sets from our SUPER talented illustrators/designers!!

Here’s my card featuring the adorable boy image from the set:

I played around with my watercolor crayons on watercolor paper. I don’t actually have a black (it’s on my list now!!) so I was doing my best to build up layers of grey. They are so different from Copics, aren’t they? I have to keep working on preventing watermarks and getting more light/dark contrast, but I really enjoy the process, anyway!

All the colours coordinate with the patterned papers (Echo Park) that are actually my school colours (where I teach) so this will likely end up going to one of my students!

ConGRADulations is a 4x6 set that includes a total of 17 stamps and will sell for $15.00.

Would you like to win the new ConGRADulations stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. One of the Trendsetter’s blogs (from each hop day) will be randomly chosen as the ‘it’ blog and a winner will be picked using a random number generator from the comments left on that Trendsetter’s Blog Hop Challenge post.

iSpy Sketch challenge + TSG Again!

I combined two assignments today! Firstly, this week at the TSG Blog we've been featuring three classic There She Goes stamps and today we are sharing cards made with them.. I chose one of my favourite sets,
Aim For the Clouds (Regular Price $15.00 Special Price $12.75)

and paired it with some PERFECT patterned papers from BasicGrey called What's Up?

a collection featuring hot air balloons.. Like I said.. Perfect! :)

For my second assignment I used this week's iSpy sketch. This is an absolutely gorgeous sketch and was really
easy to put together.

This week's card is by Dyane Fogleboch (Precious Stamps @ SCS) and is based on this card.

I made a 5.5x5.5 card instead of the landscape A2 card for a little switch-up..

Here are the Copic markers I used to colour this card. I used the "using Grey to shade" method of picking out
my colours. For example, when I coloured the ground my darkest green was YG67 (a lot of grey), then YG45,
YG13, an YG02. So basically you pick out markers with the FIRST number increasing as you get darker, as
well as the SECOND number increasing as you get darker. This gives you a more natural shadow..

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you like this week's sketch and decide to play along!

Here is how to play:

  • Create a paper crafting project (card, scrap book page or 3D item), based on the sketch provided.Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code ISSC16, and link it here with the inlinkz widget below.

May Greenhouse Society Feature

Hi there! Wait till you see all of the cards featuring this month’s Greenhouse Society stamp set from Technique Tuesday.. If you are looking for a great silhouette stamp, look no further, here it is:

IMG_0958
I absolutely adore putting stark, black images against a soft sky… To me it’s one of the most beautiful things one can stamp. I love the sentiments that come in this set, too.. They go really well with the peaceful dandelion floating in the breeze…

IMG_0959
I used distress inks to ink up the entire main panel and distressed the distress inks by first sanding, then misting with a little plain water. As you know, the inks react with water and you get a very subtle, but beautiful effect.
Head over to the Technique Tuesday blog to see what my Stamp Tech. friends have done with this set!

The Mother of all Blog Hops!

Welcome to the 3rd annual Mother of All Blog Hops sponsored by There She Goes Clears Stamps!   Over the next two days, we (customers and trendsetters!) will be featuring some of our favorite There She Goes Clear Stamp sets!   Not only that, we’re going to give YOU a chance to win some fabulous prizes!
To find out how, please go to the There She Goes’ blog and read the simple instructions.

So… We could choose any set we wanted and I had a bunch of sets in my top three, and this is one of them: Egg-stra Special. I just LOVE the illustrations and the girl is too cute! I used to think it was more of an easter set, but the sentiments are not holiday related, they’re just cute! So here’s my card:

eggstra

I used some lovely Pink Paislee patterened papers and “buttons.” The buttons were plain and had some resist embossing on them so when I inked them with distress markers (Aged Mahogany) a neat little pattern showed through. (ps…I used this week’s iSpy Sketch for the layout.)

I coloured the image with Distress Markers on watercolour paper. I find that it takes a little “fiddling around” with the markers to get the hang of them, but as I tell my students, knowledge transfers and I am finding all of my Copic expertise is helping me get the hang of the blending/shading a little quicker than I expected… YAY!

After I was done colouring I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and inked the image with the die on top. I love that look..

iSpy Sketch Challenge #15

This week's sketch is from Leanne W (From Leanne @ SCS) and is based on this card. I had SO MUCH FUN making this card… It was a good kick in the rear – my mojo has been in hiatus for the past couple days – and this card turned out so pretty!!! Here it is:

Where or When...

I was thrilled when my friend, Jef Gibbons, asked me to record a song in his studio and ultimately be a part of his Project Do Stuf! I chose a tune that I've recently introduced to my Vocal Jazz students and I've fallen in love (all over again) with it... Take a listen if you dare. I did the piano, bass and vocal tracks...

And here are a couple of new card projects to share. Here's a card I made for the newest Embellish Magazine challenge:

My colours ended up being a little bright, but the mists have a mind of their own!!!!

Kind of like my card from yesterday, I misted various mists onto plain cardstock... THEN I misted the whole thing with water and I let the mists run into each other to create a really soft background..

I'm also getting ready for Mother's Day, are you??

To create the background I coloured the stamp with Distress Markers, misted it with "Gold" Glimmer Mist and stamped! (I also stamped a 2nd and 3rd generation too...)

Thanks for stopping by and having a listen to my music!!

Supplies:
Mr. & Mrs.: Cardstock: Bazzill; SRM Sticker; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Dylusions Mist; K&Co. "Smash" Washi Tape; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch.
