iSpy Sketch 31

Hi there!!! It's time for another iSpy challenge! (click here to go to the blog)
The long weekend is here and summer is officially over... NoOooooOooooo!! Im back to school on Tuesday. Eeks!!! We hope you've enjoyed the sketches we've had all summer long!!
This week, you are in for a treat!!! We are featuring Karen Dunbrook ( kdunbrook @ SCS) and is based on this card. . Karen is the queen of CAS!!! If you check out her blog or SCS gallery, you'll need to grab a cup of coffee and a cloth because you'll be drooling over her fantastic work!!!

Here is the card I made:

It is definitely not CAS because I wanted to play with my pretty papers and make lots of layers! I stamped a little scene with stamps from There She Goes Oh Crop! on watercolor paper... Then colored with distress markers. I made this card for a friend I am camping with right now, and my little family is up here so I thought this sentiment/scene would be perfect!! And it was!!! She loved it.

So here are the challenge deets:

~Create a paper crafting project (card, scrap book page or 3D item), based on the sketch provided.

~Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code ISSC31), and link it here with the inlinkz widget on the iSpy blog.

Just Because…

Hi there! I am here with another look at this month’s Greenhouse Society stamp from Technique Tuesday. Watch the Greenhouse Society section on our Web site for it or talk to your favorite retailer to ask them to get this stamp set in.
Technique-Tuesday-Greenhouse-08-12-Clear-Stamps-Large
The new set starts shipping today so the design team has made another round of creations to inspire you!
Here’s my card:

justbecause

This set was begging me to do a CAS card so I conceded! Here are the steps I took to create this look:
  1. Colour direct-to-stamp with various Distress Markers (water-based markers).
  2. Huff (blow warm air, like how your Gramma cleans her glasses) on the stamp and stamp onto the paper. Incidentally I used Bazzill “Double-Thick” paper. It’s not watercolour paper, but it doesn’t wilt when a little water is used…
  3. Allow the image to dry completely.
  4. Scribble a little of the red colour onto a craft mat or slippery surface. Pick up the colour with a water pen and colour in the image. Do the same with the mustard colour in the center.
Funnily enough the lines didn’t smear when I applied the colours with the water pen, but that’s because I did it very quickly and I wasn’t doing any blending or anything. Just a really quick application of colour.
Thank you for stopping by, and if there are any more questions about the Distress Markers, go ahead and ask! I love ‘em and can’t wait to experiment some more!

Check out the Technique Tuesday blog for more gorgeous samples!

August TSG Blog Hop–Day 4 (iSpy Sketch #30)

It’s the last day of sneak peeks and Torico has created the most adorable moving set,  which we think will help to ease the pain of moving just a little! Most people do NOT like to move, and this super cute set has an image and sentiment for every occasion, whether you be the one moving, or if you are sending one to a friend or family member. With a major transition such as moving, a hand stamped greeting is JUST the thing to say goodbye, hello, or just a plain welcome to the neighborhood….and there’s a DOG!!!!

congratsnewhome

I stamped the image onto watercolour paper and coloured with Ranger Distress Markers. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!! Once I was done colouring I added some shading with a charcoal pencil and blending stump. I used a bunch of My Mind’s Eye papers in the background… Kinda bright, right?? AVERT YOUR EYES!!

To get a little help putting this together I used this week's iSpy Sketch: ISSC30 from Jacquie Southas ( Jacquie J @ SCS) and is based on this card

August TSG Blog Hop–Day 3

Here we are on day three of this month's release peeks, which puts us SO much closer to the release!! We are LOVING your enthusiasm about the previous two sets we revealed, and can't wait to see what you think of today's set!! Last month we released the new Enjoy Life set with matching dies, and THIS month, Melyssa has created a set full of stamps to go along with the dies!! From crabs, to sand castles, oysters, and octopi, this set will help you use the Enjoy Life dies to there fullest!!

bemysquishy

I had a lot of fun with masking on this card, can you tell? This line from “Finding Nemo” is one of my fav’s and I say it to my son, Phoenix all the time. In the movie Dorie and Marlin are descended upon by a swarm (or bloom as they are sometimes called) of jellyfish, so that’s what I created!
To replicate this look follow these steps:
  1. Stamp all of the “heads” using masks to overlap
  2. Using multiple masks (I used two - one for the head and one to cover near-by heads), stamp the tentacles.

Enjoy Life-By the Sea is a 4x8 set that includes a total of 25 stamps and will sell for $18.00.

August TSG Blog Hop–Day 2

Welcome to the second day of sneak peeks! Thank you for all of the kind comments on yesterday’s card – I am so glad you liked him! Today we have another quasi masculine set that is perfect for the little men in your life, and any baseball enthusiast! Without further adieu, here’s my card:

hbslugger2

Isn’t he cute? I’ve been having fun stamping with light inks. Here’s the image close-up:

hbslugger1

I added some shine on the helmet with a white gel pen because every picture I found on the internet had super shiny helmets. Can you believe I actually had to look up what baseball uniforms look like? hahaha.. I’m such a non-athlete. The dots in the background were added to cover a boo-boo, but I’ll never tell! I like the dots, though, because they’re unconventional and make people take a second look.

Swing Big is a 4x6 set that includes a total of 16 stamps and will sell for $15.00.

Would you like to win the new Swing Big stamp set? August TSG Blog Hop–Day 1

Well, here we are at day one of this month's new release Blog Hops! You are in for a treat with this month’s new releases. This first set is hilarious and I have many, many people in my life who will be getting cards made with it!! Check it out:

sexyandiknowit1

Isn’t he great??!! I had a hard time choosing what graphic to put on his t-shirt – they are all SO funny! Once I chose the graphic I had to find a really UNsexy colour for his shirt just to drive the irony home. hahaha.. I think this would be just the colour for this shirt in real life.

sexyandiknowit2
I coloured him with Copics and added some shading around – well – everything! I can’t stop, it’s a problem, lol…

Donkey University is a 4x4 set that includes a total of 13 stamps and will sell for $10.00.

Would you like to win the new Donkey University stamp set? Here is what you need to do- visit the Trendsetter’s blogs that are participating in each of the blog hop challenges below and comment on their creations as you go. To Wish You a Merry Christmas

Hey there! I'm here with another cute cute cute Stampendous card!

wishingyou3

Isn’t she sweet?? I coloured the image up with Copic markers and cut it out with a Nestabilities die. I then added a little bit of glitter glue and set it aside to dry.

wishingyou1

For me glitter and Christmas go hand-in-hand. SO… When deciding on what to do for the background I pulled out my Shabby White Embossing Enamel and the star stamp from Jumbo Sparkle Joy Set.

wishingyou2

This particular embossing enamel is SO sparkly in real life and it’s great for Christmas, it's a white base with gold embossing powder and gold GLITTER! Nice! So I stamped the star with Versamark ink, sprinkled the embossing enamel on and heated it up. Once cooled I misted the cardstock with various mists and since embossing enamel serves as a resist it stayed nice and bright!

wishingyou3

To finish off the card I stamped a sentiment from ‘Tis The Season and cut out a banner. Thanks for joining me today!

Stampendous meets Wobbles

What’s a wobble?? It’s a little spring with adhesive on either end to make any image WOBBLE!!

wobblecard

From this picture it just looks like a regular ol’ popped-up image.. But it’s not!! I made a quick video so you can see it in action:

I made this card at Clipper Street one evening (we carry Wobbles now!) and I had a crowd “ooo-ing and aahh-ing” at this cute little guy. It’s such a simple thing, but so effective!

We're going to be giving away

6 Action Wobbles Springs and CRV265 Cling Hula Kiddo to one lucky Blog Hopper! AND

6 Action Wobbles Springs an CRW076 Tree Trim Kiddos to a second lucky Blog Hopper!! (because we want to see that top Kiddo wobbling with that star!)
How can you win?
Comment on the blogs below! At the end of the weekend (yes, you have until Sunday night) we'll choose two of the blogs below at random. They will then choose a random winner and we'll notify you here!

iSpy Sketch Challenge #29

Hi there! This week's sketch is really great. I hope you get a chance to play along.

ISSC29 is from Renee Matarese ( Renlymat @ SCS) and is based on this card.

This card came about because of guilt. I have been cleaning out my craft studio today in preparation for a garage sale I'm participating in on Sunday, and guys... I have a lot of paper. Too much. I was shaking my head all day as I sorted through the rack and decided what should stay and what should go.

AHA MOMENT:
What I once thought was gorgeous and trendy, is not any more.

AHA MOMENT #2:
I must use my stash while I am still in love with it.

Here's my card:

This is new BasicGrey stuff right here. In the past I have hoarded chipboard elements because normally there's only ONE of each thing in a pack. What if I need that one thing in the future? It will be gone!!

AHA MOMENT #3:
I won't ever NEED that one thing. I will find something else suitable.

So there you have it. My aha moments are something I need to keep in mind constantly when I'm crafting. USE YOUR STUFF TOBI!!! Anyway.. Thanks for listening. hahahaha..

Here is how to play:

  • Create a paper crafting project (card, scrap book page or 3D item), based on the sketch provided.Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code ISSC29), and link it here with the inlinkz widget below.

August Greenhouse Sneak Peek!

It is August 15th, which means it is time to reveal our latest Greenhouse Society stamp set.

Technique-Tuesday-Greenhouse-08-12-Clear-Stamps-LargeIsn’t it gorgeous? I had a great time colouring it up. One thing I love about this set is it’s kind of two flowers in one, right? As a whole it’s tulips, but if you isolate just the blooms it could be poppies! I’ll try that next time! For now, here’s my card:

greenhouseaug1

I paired it with some new My Mind’s Eye papers.. So. In. Love. Anyway.. I coloured the image with Copic markers and added some shading with my charcoal pencil and blending stump. **Note: the die cut was cut out first with my Silhouette. I don’t usually cut out the shape first, but I downloaded some cute labels and wanted to use them, so this is what I came up with. It kind of forces me to use my Silhouette because lately it’s been gathering dust.

Anyway!! Check out the Technique Tuesday blog for more Greenhouse inspiration and I’ll see you again soon!

Baby Tiger with Light Ink

Hi there! Today I coloured up Tiger Baby with Copic markers and paired him with a sentiment from Stampendous' Perfectly Clear set called Friendship Assortment.

So you’re my guinea pigs today! I have seen a new colouring technique pop up here and there and I thought I would give it a shot and show you my results. This is the first time I’ve tried it, so go easy on me, ok??
Here’s the deal. Stamp with light ink:

tiger1

I stamped this image with “Scattered Straw Distress Ink” by Ranger. Yes Distress Inks work with Copics! I coloured two images at the same time in case I really screwed up – and I did – and I found out that you need to keep it light in order to 1) see the lines of the image and 2) keep the colours defined.

tiger3

Here he is all completed. It’s a much more subtle effect and it almost looks like I could have drawn him by hand – even though there’s NO WAY. Ever!

tiger4

A couple tips I picked up: you have to go over some elements with darker ink so they stand out (whiskers, eyebrows, shadows…), using my grey/black charcoal pencil technique doesn’t work! ( I used a brown chalk pencil instead).
Here are the Copics I used:
tiger2

Was this helpful? I hope you give it a try. Remember to keep it light!

iSpy Sketch 28

Hi there!!! Can you believe it's Friday again already? WOW!! Where is August going?  I hope you're all enjoying it as much as we are.
This week we are featuring  Mary Brown (stampercamper @ SCS) and is based on this card.
I decided to do a NO STAMPING card. All of the magazines nowadays are full of cards with no stamping and it’s a no-stress easy way to make a pretty card. Check mine out:

issc28

I used My Mind’s Eye patterned papers, twine and coordinating chipboard elements. I sewed around the outside because after I assembled everything it didn’t have that personal touch.

What do you think? Do you appreciate cards with no stamping? Do you feel cheated?? lol…

Here is how to play:
  • Create a paper crafting project (card, scrap book page or 3D item), based on the sketch provided.Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code ISSC28), and link it here with the inlinkz widget below.
  • Please provide a direct link to your post - not the generic link to your blog.

Stampendous Giraffe

Hi there! I have another Stampendous! Blogstar post going live at the blog! Today I'm using one of our cute line-art images called Giraffe Baby. Check him out.

Distress Markers are water-based markers so you must colour on watercolor paper- which I love because of its fabulous texture. To accentuate the shadows and really enhance the depth in the image I used a charcoal pencil and blending stump on top of the image once the colouring was complete. Here's a close up:

You may also notice that I sponged some clouds in the background with Broken China Distress Ink, I always add something to the backgrounds of my images.. They just don't look right unless they're in some kind of setting.

Thanks for stopping by!!
