With the sad news about Jacksonbelle Embellishments closing I thought I would have room in my life for another DT, so I applied for The Cutting Cafe DT and was selected! I have been playing a lot with...
It's funny, I thought I've been with Jacksonbelle Embellishments for YEARS, but when I checked how many times I had posts with Jacksonbelle as the label, sure enough, it said 52. I was like, only a year?? It's...
I've heard people describe my cards as: colourful, bright, bold but I don't intentionally create with those directives in mind, I just create! Whenever someone gets handed a thick card envelope from me, my hubby or my son, they inevitably squeal "IT'S A TOBI CARD" and rip it open to find out what's inside.. What makes my cards ME? I can always recognize my own cards, ofcourse, but what is my style? Is it always the same thing? Today I'm sharing 3 cards that have one component in common: Colour!
Here are three cards that I would consider recognizably "Tobi Cards", but what do I know? The first two revolve around the colours of the patterned papers I've chosen to work with, the last one is just a combination of pretty colours brought to life with copic markers!
Card 1) Inspired by the colours of the WeR papers. I coloured a MFT image, made a flower with some pretty yellow ribbon, cut that scalloped trim with the Silhouette, and after all that it became a "Tobi Card." When I pick out patterned paper I look for small patterns (so when I cut it up for a card you can still see what the pattern is supposed to be) and the colour combo.
Card 2) Do you have a butt-load of thickers? I do! I have over 30 packs of American Craft's letter stickers, and yes, it's sad.. Really sad... So here's my meager attempt at using them. They are really great for adding big bold sentiments to cards, I just tend to forget about 'em...

I made three cards, and truth be told, I didn't quite know how I felt about the paper before I began. But now??? True Love!!
The colours are so bright and so fresh, who wouldn't love them? (Well, maybe a manly man, but we're not worried about them....) Here are the individual shots:
This was probably the quickest card I made. I actually cut up the cover of the "paper crafting kit" that has a "sneak peek" of what's inside on the cover.. Well.. It's already cropped side-by-side for me, so why not use it? I added a tag, a small chipboard accent, and a simple sentiment and viola!!
I think this is my fav'. The shocking pink against the stark white is just gorgeous! I sewed some PTI ribbon along the edge of the tag, and again, this was a super simple card to put together!
A while ago Becky Oehlers had a sneak peek on her blog of an upcoming PTI set and she generously shared a free PDF.. This is the image! I love this image. I've printed out a bunch just because I can't get enough of it!
**I used SRM Stickers Sentiments on all of my cards today.
Your next stop is Amy’s Blog. And, don’t forget to return to SRM to leave a comment. Random winners will be chosen and posted at the SRM Blog on Tuesday!
