There are some days when a sketch is my saviour. Today is that day.
How did I forget/lose track of time and not realize that Easter was this weekend and I had NO CARDS made? WOOPS!
Enter Deconstructed Sketch #95 to save the day!! I got my colour inspiration from this week’s Tuesday Trigger – a lovely pastel pic!! I have a small stash of spring/easter/pastel patterned papers and every year around this time I grudgingly cut into it. This particular paper is “Egg Drop Soup” by Jillibean Soup. Oh and the stamps?? More classics. The stamps are Kim Hughes from her Cornish Heritage Farms days. I fricken loved those stamps. lol..

As you can imagine I had a lot of fun colouring her. Megan is an amazing artist and her colouring skills are astounding, so it didn’t surprise me to find her images easy to colour.

It may seem a weird sentiment for a Starbucks cup, but if you know me, then you’ll know there’s no better birthday gift than a Starbucks gift card!!
Supplies: The sentiment from SRM's Fancy Birthday Sentiment Sheet and Honeydew twine! The coffee cup is from a There She Goes set called Let’s Get Together.
- Step one, I decided on a colour (in this case, orange) and I gathered my cardstock and found tones that worked with each other and organized them light-to-dark.
- To “jazz up” the layers a little bit I cut a fringe into the papers AND I added some Aged Gold Embossing Enamel to just the ends. How did I do it? It was easy, I just dragged the Boss Gloss dabber over the fringe and dunked it into the embossing enamel. Heat. Done. And so pretty, right?
- The cardstock looked a little plain to me, so I stamped a background pattern onto the layers with Versamark and the Cling Dream Text background stamp. I’m not usually a just cardstock person, so this helped me let that go a little..
And there it is all assembled! I added a little sentiment from Agapanthus Thank You Perfectly Clear Set and tied a pretty gold bow and that was it. I think a pretty ombre background like this doesn’t need much else!
Today I'm sharing a card with this month's Greenhouse set from Technique Tuesday.
I stamped with Versamark and embossed the image with white embossing powder. I thought I would take a chance and colour with Copics and it worked! I used really pale colors and the blender pen to fade the colours to nothing for a watercolored look.
This is a really traditional card for me, but I have a lot of different family members and customers to cater to, right? I will most likely give this to my Gramma on Easter... Perfect!

I stamped the image with Memento ink and got colouring with Copic markers. Final touches were added with my trusty pastel chalk pencil and blending stump! (Papers and embellishments are all Pink Paislee and the sentiment sticker is from the SRM Stickers set called We’ve Got Your Sticker – Sweet)
I am only slightly embarrassed to admit that I’m writing this at 2am! I am late to the Downton Abbey bandwagon and am almost finished season 3… Mr. Bates!! Lady Cybil!!! I just love it. If you haven’t watched it yet, give it a try. I’ve even had grade 10 MALE students secretly admit they watch it too!! hahaha.. That’s saying something!

Today I’m sharing a pretty little card over at the SRM Blog made with a bunch of die cuts and of course, SRM stickers:
It’s great fun to layer die cut shapes on top of each other because it looks really fancy, but really, it’s pretty easy!
It’s spring break in my area and I have two wonderful weeks off. So far I’ve done a lot of sleeping-in and hanging out with my boy… It’s been nice!

Hi guys! If you’re looking for a quick and easy sketch, I’ve got a great one! This week’s sketch uses straight layers (of which I’m a fan) and an interesting focal image location… Check it out:
This sketch could be clean & simple if you didn’t use busy patterned papers, so it’s really versatile, right? I used a couple images from one of my first There She Goes stamp sets called Aim For The Clouds. (The balloon is a separate image and I’ve popped it on top) They are coloured with Copics (of course) and I’ve added a little shading with General’s Chalk Pencils!

- I am only using each marker ONCE. I don’t have to go back and colour over everything with light markers and this helps to keep the ink in the marker and not in the paper.
- By colouring the “shadows” first I can plan out the light-source and make sure I have all of the shadows placed appropriately.
- I have found this method to be easiest for me! I enjoy using various methods of blending techniques when colouring, but my go-to method is dark-to-light.
For each coloured area, choose 3 markers (a dark, medium and light).
As you can see, I pooled the darkest colour (E18) where I felt the shadows would occur. Next I added E15 and pulled the colour a little higher, and finally E13.
For each colour group I repeat this process. Here’s the next colour:
Even though the colours I used were quite pale, I still went dark-to-light! The last frame shows the completed image including some shading with a black pastel-chalk pencil.

I’m here again today to share another project that has a little twist.. Hope you like it!
The twist is that it’s not a card:
It’s a glassine bag! I stuck a little journaling card in there so I can write a special note to someone and tuck it inside!
I used some SRM Stickers to fancy up the papers, along with some distress ink on the edges..
And the image!! It’s so easy to get this look: emboss image with white embossing powder, spray with your favourite Dylusions Ink spray and heat.
