25 Days of Christmas Tags

Hi there! I'm so happy about today's blog post because I'm playing along with Tracey McNeely and the Technique Tuesday DT for Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags.

I am a lover of Christmas tags and I already have a bunch made for this year's gifts, so today's post was a most welcome assignment!

Here's my tag:

So cute, right?? I used one of the images and sentiment from HOHOHO. It's great for all you colourers out there!

For the background of the tag I used a stencil and some white modelling paste. At first you would think black is a little harsh for Christmas, but it's a great base on which to put lots of bright colours!

Bird Crazy Thanks

It's time for another challenge with my girls at the Naughty or Nice challenge, and this month's theme is "Monochromatic Thanks".

When I started making this card I was like, ok, monochromatic.. I can do this, and I grabbed my stamps, my copics, and then promptly forgot the monochromatic part, hahaha.. That's so like me.

So the image doesn't 100% follow the rules, but I think that's okay.

So this card isn't exactly Naughty, but I think using Bird Crazy images gets a few points... They are just so funny-looking that you can't take them seriously..

Here's the sentiment on the inside:

I used my General's Chalk Pencil in black to add the shading on the outside and certain areas on the inside of the image to add depth. The tie is popped up on foam to make it stand out and look super-awkward.

Stop by the Naughty Or Nice blog for more info on the challenge!

Hi guys! I'm here today with a few of my pals from The Twinery team to show you how we Stash our Stash. I used to have the most beautiful collection of twine on the spools but then I had the bright idea of moving my life half-way around the world!! I had to majorly downsize all of my craft stuff so a new solution had to materialize... That's what I'm sharing with you today!

Everything is stored in this cute little purple tub.

I have a few spools of my most-used twine (kraft, platinum and gold shimmer) and the rest of my shimmer and NEW! twine on top.

And then.... My pretty, pretty twine:

Each bundle is about 50 yards so it's enough to keep me well-stocked for the year. During the summer I go home to Canada and restock!

GIVEAWAY INFORMATION:
Each designer participating in the hop will be giving away a Striped Twine Sampler ($18 value).

To enter, hoppers need to comment on each post along the hop. (And since each designer is giving away a Striped Twine Sampler, each post is another chance to win!)

Hi there! Just popping in to share a card... A Christmas card!

10 weekends til Christmas!!!

I'm excited... Can you tell?

To make the trees have that watercolor look I inked the stamp then lightly misted it with water before stamping.

All of the images/sentiments come from the Season of Joy stamp set.

Hi there! I love Hallowe'en and especially Hallowe'en crafts but unfortunately I just don't ever have the occasion to give cards to anyone. Tags, however, are handy to have around especially when you can attach them to a big bag of candy...

Here's my tag:

Sadly (or lucky for me...) this is a retired There She Goes set and I'm not letting go.. There are too many cute images in it!

I used mostly pastel chalk pencils to colour the image. The white pencil, in particular, shows up really well on kraft cs...

It's our day, card-makers! There are so many companies celebrating today and Technique Tuesday has a great offer, but first, my card:

I used a few goodies from Cath's new release and got a little messy doing it:

I used a combination of Dylusions, and Heidi Swapp mists, and oh yah, I mopped up the leftovers for a later project!

Because it's WCMD it's your chance to get a free Snail Mail stamp set from Technique Tuesday!

As a card maker, you enjoy putting smiles on the faces of family and friends. The new Snail Mail stamp set helps you do just that. Use it to jazz up the outside of envelopes and packages any time of the year. When your package arrives with Happy Mail stamped on it, everyone will know there's something extra special inside!

To help you celebrate this card making "holiday," the Snail Mail stamp set is FREE, today only, with a purchase of $30 or more. No need to add it to your cart, just spend $30 and we will automatically toss the FREE stamp set into your shipment. (Snail Mail is also available for $9.99, if you would like to purchase it alone.)

Christmas Critters

I am here with my first Christmas cards of the year! Last year I did not make enough cards to get me through the season and I was scrambling on the last days before Christmas to have enough to go around so this year I've started early... For me! (I know that some of you have been making them since January... Good for you!!)

I love using my cutesy stamps at Christmas so I pulled out some animals and created some snowy little scenes...

I coloured the images with a combination of chalk pastel pencils (blended with a blending stump) and Copic markers. For a change I stamped in dark brown ink - it gives everything a nice vintage-y feel!

For the sentiments I pulled out some coordinating scrap paper and placed the sticker on top. I think it's fun to switch up how I do sentiments - always on white is so boring!

Here's a side-view of one of the cards. I created dimension with the "snow" by layering different die cuts with foam tape. My shimmery Twinery Twine is a staple with my Christmas cards and enhances the subtle glitter accents on the rest of the card too!

Supplies:

The Twinery Twine: Platinum Shimmer

Stamps: There She Goes (retired)

Paper: My Mind's Eye and Simple Stories

Ink: Brilliance by Tsukineko

Wood Accents: Lawn Fawn

Die Cuts: Lawn Fawn
Sentiment: SRM Stickers

Tobi's Technique Tuesday Technique Video

Over the summer holiday I bought a video camera with the intention of filming more technique videos. It's not the filming part that's stressful though - it's the editing!

It was a whopping 45 minutes when I started (that's pretty good when you consider how long it takes to make an average card) but I whittled it down to a more manageable length!

In the video I show how I do the background with paints and stencils and how I put the whole card together... I love to combine my love of paint with my love of cardmaking and I hope I have shown how easy and freeing it is.

I hope you enjoy!

It's time again for the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and I like to participate because it's a chance to pull out some of my "oldie but goodie" supplies that don't get much love anymore.

If you don't know what this blog hop is about, check the info here. Lots of prizes, lots of inspiration, and it's just for fun!

So here's my card:

I thought I would do a quick and easy chalkboard image with my treasured There She Goes stamps.

The chalkboard look is fun because you stamp, emboss, and BAM, it's done!

The papers (My Mind's Eye) are from their "chalk studio" line and had these delicious color combos already chosen for me. I just accented the card with some teal twine and pink epoxy stickers...

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the hop and have a great weekend!

For my second card for the MFT Card Design Superstar contest I simply wanted to use this set!

I have seen so many great cards with Torico's Penguins in Paradise and I've wanted to break this set open for a while... I used Copic markers to colour up the two images then I fussy-cut them out:

I added some shading with General's Chalk Pastel pencils and a blending stump for some dimension within the image.. I have so much fun doing this!

MFT Card Design Superstar Contest

I have a growing stash of MFT stamps and dies and thought I would play along with this week's sketch challenge - and while I was at it, enter into the Card Design Superstar contest!
If anything, I've ended up with a couple of cute cards, right??

I made this card for this week's sketch challenge (Sketch #246) and since I didn't have the die cut that was hinted at in the sketch, I went with a circular diecut and made the background fancy...

I used various inks (Distress Ink, Memento Luxe) as well as sprays (Dylusions, Distress...) and a little bit of water. I love how it turned out!!

As a Technique Tuesday DT member I am so thrilled to have the wonderful and sweet Cath Edvalson lend her artistic touch to the already fantastic product line that TT boasts.. Her products are fun and versatile and this blog hop will surely inspire us all!

Cath's products can be found here at Technique Tuesday, but a little birdie told me that you can now order from Simon Says and Ellen Hudson too!

When I was brainstorming ideas for this project I was over-thinking it WAY too much, but then I said, "TOBI!! Do what you're good at!!" so I picked up my mixed media supplies and played.... This started out as a blob of pink watercolour paint on paper, but after a few artistic gold paint splatters and Cath's Heartfelt Thanks set embossed in white - it was done!

Do you want to win some goodies???!!!

Technique Tuesday is going to give away three prizes. One person will a package consisting of all 5 of Cath's new products. Technique Tuesday will also give away two $25 gift certificates.

The three winners will be chosen at random from all the comments left during the hop on all the blog stops. To be eligible to win, blog hoppers need to just leave a comment any of the blog hop stops. The more comments they leave during the hop, the more chances they have to win.

Folks have through midnight PST on Sept. 16th, 2015, to leave comments. The three winners will be announced on the Technique Tuesday blog on Sept. 18th, 2015.

The hop starts at the Technique Tuesday Blog

Technique Tuesday September Release!

It's an exciting day for Technique Tuesday because we're welcoming a new product designer to the roster, none other than Cath Edvalson! A lot of her designs are based on her paper cuts and they are just a lot of fun to play with.

Here's a card I made using her new Garden Of Life stamp set and dies:

I cut out multiple flowers in white cardstock with the die cut and used various inks to colour them.

Then I stamped the image in black and doodled with a white gel pen.

The open images are really a lot of fun to play with. Next time I'm gonna hit those flowers with Copics!!

Thanks for stopping by and congrats, Cath!!

Farewell Tiddlyinks

Four months have flown by and thus ends my term with the Tiddlyinks crew.

It's been tough since I was on vacation for half of it, but it was a joy to be able to colour their images every chance I got. I feel like I got better at colouring as the months went on too, which was one of my goals!

Here's my final DT card:

Hair was something I wanted to colour better and the inspiration from the other girls on the team helped me get a lot closer!

(I used Foxer-upper Girl on Copic paper with Copic markers)

Thanks for having me Christy, and crew!

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting some relatives during our EPIC ROAD TRIP 2015 (said in my best echoey announcer voice) and we stayed in our new family's home. The hostess had a different theme for every room and her bedroom's theme was lighthouses and I thought, "I can work with this!"

Isn't this perfect?! I knew I had to gather up some nautical twine and I started with The Twinery's new Firecraker Twine and went from there:

To beef up the Firecracker twine I added Maraschino and Midnight Blue on either side.

(And of course the hostess had the perfect prop for my photo!)

The stamp is Tiddly Ink's Light My Life

Pawsitively Awesome!

Hello there, friends! As you may have noticed my posting has been sparse, and for good reason: I am on another epic road trip!!!

This trip has been especially exciting because my son has just met his biological father for the first time. His "dad" and I were very close once (obviously) but because he lives in SF Bay area and I live in Canada/China, we just never saw each other. It has gone so much better than I could have ever hoped and they are getting along so well. I hope we can visit again soon.. We are currently in the Bay area and will soon be travelling north up the Oregon coast. I am so excited!!

Anyway... If you've ever tried to craft on the road, it's harder than it seems. I have a bunch of my stuff with me, but still - I AM TIRED!!! In fact, I went to the ER today because of high blood pressure and disgusting swelling in my ankles. Thank goodness I got some pills and am feeling better, but travelling is HARD!

So needless to say, I haven't done all of the crafting I set out to do, but I've made some things, lol...
Take a look at this card I made for this week's Tiddy Inks Challenge:

I only brought 50 Copic markers with me so my colours are somewhat limited, but I really love this image so it was fun. I want all of my colours to bump it up a notch, but really, she's a cutie regardless!!

(Wryn Scooting By)

I've got a couple more projects up my sleeve so I will see you again soon!
