I'm back in China and getting settled into the new school year.
I'm here today with a project for The Twinery and it's all about DOGS!!
 I have two that are currently living with me and they are the light of my life - especially when I get home from work!! Needless to say I've got quite the little collection of dog-themed stamps going and this card uses one of my fav's:

I kept this card really neutral with a POP of colour to keep it on the masculine side. One thing I love about incorporating twine into my cards is it can help to tie-in those random colours in the project: 

I only used red on the mallets and the dot on his t-shirt, but by using Maraschino twine it TIED it all together... (See what I did there... a little twinery pun for ya!!)

Today I'm playing along with the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: Make For The Border!

I've used a set from Mama Elephant called Rock And Paws.  

I'll tell yah, it sure is hard crafting and blogging "on the road." 

The difficult thing about having a two-month vacation (well, there are a lot of things hard about it), is not being able to hunker down and get some "work" done. My family likes to go on road trips so we are literally on the road for much of the summer too, but it's also that go-go-go feeling when you're on vacation... There never seems to be that down-time I need to craft. 

BUT... This past weekend before we left for our roadtrip to California I was able to make a couple of cards for people I'm meeting up with along the way, and this is one of them:

I finally got my hands on some Reverse Confetti stamps so I inked them up just in time for the current Sketch For You To Try: 

 

I've been playing with my new set of Zig Clean Color Brush pens and this image was a great way to test out some colour combos. It's interesting what happens when you add water to them... Sometimes the colours do things you wouldn't expect- but that's the fun part about learning. 

 

White embossing was definitely the right way to go with this card and I really love how soft and pretty it ended up looking. 

 

The school year is very late this year - June 29th is my last day and MAN time is going slow... 

Pretty soon I'll be flying back to Canada to see my son again and spend time with friends and family. 

In the meantime, I've been plugging away at my craft desk, filling orders and getting some last-minute design work done... Check out today's card: 

I'm so excited to announce I'll be designing for SRM again! I was with them way back in 2010 when they had their first design team call and WOW, Susan has really transformed her business and product offerings over the years! It's so exciting to not only be working with the stickers that have made SRM a crafter's staple, but now she has stamps, vinyl, coloring mediums, twine, packaging and so much more. I'm looking forward to the next year!

Who doesn't love roasting marshmallows over a campfire?! 

The sights, the sounds, the smells - it's all an intoxicating reminder of how great summer is.

My go-to recipe for Dad-cards is this: 

1 - start with a graphic piece of patterned paper with a great colour combo (stripes)

2- No colouring, just a cool and funky stamp that will make Dad chuckle. 

3- find some twine that coordinates with the colours.. 

I really love masculine cards... No muss, no fuss!

Man Day by Technique Tuesday

A day to celebrate the special men in our lives - I just wish sometimes I lived on the same continent as my father. I get to see him in a few weeks and THEN I will wish him a Happy Father's Day!! 

Wedding season has arrived and it's time for me to start building my stash! 

Today I used the pretty colour combo from the current MFT Color Challenge as a starting point for this elegant card:

So funny... I set up this shot, took it, thought "OK!" and didn't even look at the crazy twine, hahaha.. I must have been in a hurry that day, right? Anyway...

Hi there! I took a much-needed day off yesterday to de-stress and took a little time to play with some new goodies and the current MFT sketch challenge as well as the current MFT Colour Challenge. 

 

The background was created by sponging inks through the Chunky Herringbone Stencil.

 

I coloured the unicorn/Pegasus with Copic markers and added shadows with chalk pencils.

Happy Mother's Day! 

To celebrate this happy day I'm sharing my favourite Mother's Day card I made this year. I made a lot of cards this year for my colleagues and friends to send home to their Mommas and it was fun to play around with pretty floral designs and colours. 

I feel like Mother's day cards are easy... Flower stamp (Avery Elle), colour it up (watercolours are so on fleek right now), and some pretty accents like The Twinery's delicious twine! 

I hope you have a great day with your Moms and/or celebrating with your own kiddies!! 

I've just had a very luxurious week off and I've got some much-needed rest and relaxation, and a SWEET NEW TATTOO!!

So while I nursed my throbbing and swollen arm I also got some time to get some just-for-me crafting done!! I've purchased a few new stamps and dies, but also some foil products so I did some experimenting!

It's with the April Greenhouse Society stamp from Technique Tuesday. 

 

What I love most is how the stamp and the background paper go together so nicely. I had a bunch of watercolor leftovers just sitting around and the colouring matched one of the pieces perfectly!
