The 25th is here, and that means that the Technique Tuesday Peony - Greenhouse Society stamp set is now shipping. I was getting a little messy playing with some paint and the Stampendous Creative Palette and ended up making a bunch of mono-prints that I was pretty happy with:
When monoprinting was introduced to me I was intrigued, but I didn't know what you did with all of the prints once you were done?! I created some more muted ones intentionally so I could cut them up and make cards. The print in the top left is the one I used for today's card.
I stamped the Peonys in grey pigment ink and embossed with clear EP. (It was taking forever to dry)
Then I stamped the sentiment in the same grey ink.
I am excited to play around with my Creative Palette more and I'm pinning mono-prints like a mad-woman. I would love to see your creations with prints. I have a feeling I'm going to need the inspiration!!!

Like the title says I spent the weekend with my mixed media idol: Donna Downey!!! Throughout my learning of this artistic genre Donna has been a constant guide thanks to her "Inspiration Wednesday" posts. Free instructional video every week? Where do I sign up??!! (She has since given up the insp. wed. videos and started an online course called 48 weeks.. I am excited to sign up at the end of the month!!!!)
Anyway... My LSS, Clipper Street, brought in the fab Donna Downey as well as Bill and I had a great time soaking up every minute of her. Here are some favourite moments:

This is her sample. On the supply list was fabric, which totally freaked me out, but it meant we were making our own book from scratch and it was super easy!!
Thank goodness the Amy Butler fabrics I picked out matched the colour scheme! The best part of this painting process was we did it in true DD style - WITH OUR FINGERS!!
Here's one of my finished inner pages. This photo is from my wedding - we're in a cute little Irish pub. Perfect colours for this project.
The next class I took was her Painting with PanPastels. It was intense!!
Right before our eyes she took us from blobs of colour...
To a real painting!! It was amazing.
Then she made us do it! lol...

I can't tell you how excited I was after this class!!! I left the store around 11pm and went home and painted another:
I brought it by the store the next day to show her and I nearly cried and she got goosebumps! Never in a million years did I think I could do this with PanPastels!!!

I honour of Valentine's Day and it's quick approach, I used Cling Bunny Luv for today's card:
It was funny, I had just started to colour the image when I realized the paper I was using was REALLY slippery... Way more than normal. Then I thought about it for a sec. and realized I stamped on Ranger's "perfect stamping paper." It was a lot like colouring on glossy CS, but I just kept going. Happy accidents and all that...
You can maybe see where some of the colours didn't so much blend as they did move. But I never throw anything away - most people wouldn't even see the difference! lol...
Copic colours used: Big bunny: C7, 5, 3, 1, 0; Little bunny: E43, 42, 41, 40; Hearts: R37, 35.
So this card is based on this week's Deconstructed Sketch. It's a great one if you want to check it out!
It's the 15th and that means there's a new Greenhouse Society stamp set up for grabs, and this month it's the beautiful: Peony.
I would normally colour an image like this with Copics, but I decided to do a mixed-media tag from start-to-finish. The background was made with Gelatos and I spread them around with a baby wipe. Then I spread some gold stickles around. Lastly, I stamped the image with Archival ink and coloured it with Gelatos and a water-brush.

I am on a mission to make as many Valentines as I can in the next couple of weeks,
so I need all of the inspiration I can get! Today I played along with the
current Case Study Challenge.. Here's my card:
Do people ever ask you how long it takes to make one card? I usually say about an hour, because really, that's how long it takes me!
NOT this one...
First I misted about 7 or 8 different colours onto the cardstock that I
had stamped and embossed with white EP. (don't ask me why I needed all those sprays to make PINK. I just did, ok? lol...)
Then I proceeded to add: Silks acrylic paints, Gelatos, and Distress Inks.
2 full episodes of Dr. Who later I got this:
It's funny because I would definitely call this clean-and-simple, but it was not clean, and most assuredly not simple, lol.... But oh how I love how it turned out! I heard gold and pink was "in" so I incorporated some AC gold glitter paper. Va-va-voom!

Hi there! I'm showcasing a card today featuring a new set from Annabelle Stamps that's
going to be released at the end of the month. I've waited a looooong time to use
this set because I've had a few ideas percolating for a while now!
I don't think I've mentioned this before, but I splurged and got the entire set of Memento Luxe Ink pads
and have been playing around with them. Consensus: I love them! They give a perfect, bold impression every time. The only drawback is that because they're a pigment ink, and VERY juicy, they take
a long time to dry. I always have to remind myself to heat-set when I'm finished.

I've mentioned this before, but I hate putting my Christmas stamps away!!! There are so many stamps that I don't get to even use, so I'm going to find a way to use a bunch of them throughout the year. These cute little stamps come from the Stampendous! set called "Snowman Banners." The snowman is supposed to hold these little banners in his branches, but hey! Why not use some of them on their own?! The sentiment could be used any time during these cold months!

Technique Tuesday has a lot of great new products for cardmakers, scrapbookers, and Project-Lifers alike. (I also love that they're coming out with some cool steel dies)
This is a project I created with a new set from Ali Edwards called, Treasure Labels:
I put my mixed-media spin on it by using mists (Dylusions) and Faber-Castell Pitt Pens (you can see the shading underneath the embossing... That the Pitt Pens!) along with a couple of pretty sequins.
This card was made for my son on his birthday. It's everything I feel about him all on one card! So I decided to wrap a couple of his gifts in brown paper and do some coordinating stamping:

I just picked up some brand-new Memory Box goodies from my LSS and thought I would play around with one idea I had in my head...
The colours, the lace, the tiny little dots all inspired me as I was making this card. It was high time I started making Valentines Day cards, so this was #1 for 2014.

Well.... I guess it's time to move on from Christmas. I really do hate packing up all my seasonal stuff, especially since I didn't use half of the stamps and papers I wanted to!! December is just way too busy to get all of my holiday cardmaking done. Maybe I'll keep it around for a while and see what I can get done for Christmas 2014!

I made this card for the new Annabelle stamps sketch challenge (click here for all of the info) using Remember When. This whole card was made with white cardstock. All of the colours are Memento Luxe ink applied with the Ranger Ink Blending Tool.
In addition to the Annabelle challenge, I played along with the current Runway Inspired Challenge. Here's the inspiration photo:
That fabulous green-gold is a tough colour to create, so I layered, well... Greens and a golden yellow ink. I also added some Taupe accents because the only other neutral besides the white/cream colours was her skin!

This was, by 25 blog posts, my busiest blog year. I had 4-6 design teams that I served on and it was quite the chore for me to juggle everything while maintaining my super-busy teaching schedule - but I came out alive! lol...
I am looking forward to a more relaxed 2014 with only a few design teams on my plate and a lighter teaching load at my LSS. I am still quite busy with my music-teaching position and I only see myself getting
busier as time goes by. My choral program is building bigger and bigger every year
and it thrills me to no end to have all of my dear students involved!
In the tradition of many bloggers out there (and I've done it for 4 years now too), I am going to share MY favourite projects from 2013. I have gone through some creative changes this year and consider mixed media one of my forte's and one of my favourite ways to create cards. Copic is still up there, but I feel like I'm more versatile after this year...

Just like last year I noticed my propensity for using black cardstock. I must vow to use more of my delicious Bazzill Cardshoppe this year!! But I love the addition of my new mixed media supplies - it's definitely influenced my style for the better.. (I think?!?!)
