Whimsie Doodles

A few weeks ago Melyssa Connolly contacted me and asked me if I wanted to be a part of the Whimsie Doodles design team.. First of all, check out her designs, then take a look at the Whimsie Doodles blog and tell me it isn't WOW. I am having so much fun colouring these digital stamps and the design team is a true inspiration.. Wait 'till you see what's coming in February and March!

Here's a card I made using a set of stamps called Valen-tinies. They are all so cute!

I also used a Mint Motif stamp from the Sweet Hearts set (available at i {heart} papers) to make the heart background. I just used Versamark ink! I also used colours from today's Color Challenge at SCS.

Thanks for looking, and have a wonderful day!

Goodbye SRM... It was an amazing year!

I have had the honour an privilege to serve on the SRM Stickers DT with the very best of the best, working for the best company out there.. Seriously. The team is full of superstars and SRM is THE MOST generous company I've ever had the honour of working with.. I have stickers to last me a long time and product from companies like Cosmo Cricket and Bazzill to play with for months years to come.

Here is my last design team card that I have designed with Valentine's Day on the brain:

A cute little cupid (Pink Cat Studio) was stamped on PTI cardstock, and coloured with copics. I then cut the image out with a Nestabilities die, and leaving the die in place, airbrushed around the image.

Thank you SRM DT ladies:

Jenyfur Pohl (DT coordinator)

What am I doing next? Find out tomorrow!!

A trio of Valentines

Today my cards are being featured at the SRM blog... Check it out!

I have some truly beautiful Valentines papers and stickers and instead of hoarding them like I usually do, I'm using them. Last year I didn't make very many Valentine's Day cards but this year I'm singing a new tune. Yes, this year I've already made 25 valentines and they got dropped off at the flower shop today!!

Here is a trio of happy V-day cards:

These cards were a response to a few new purchases (large scallop die by Sizzix), the doily die cuts by Silhouette, and brand-new rose trim from Making Memories. These cards were my attempt at shabby vintage and I kind of got there.. I had a lot of fun, anyway!!!

I used the following SRM stickers:

Thanx for visiting!

Papertrey January Blog Hop Challenge

This is the challenge:

With the new year comes a clean slate along with many resolutions.  This month's blog hop challenge involves you challenging yourself to use a Papertrey stamp set that has yet to see ink or even one that might be collecting a little dust!  Go through your stash and see what little used treasure it might hold.

I bought "Every day Button Bits" with intentions of making LOTS of cards for all occasions because the set is so versatile!! And it is, I just got lazy and forgot it for a while. Hey, it happens... So for today's challenge I chose this flower image and sentiment that have never seen ink!

I used a new Nestabilities die to kind of "frame" the image and highlight the green stems and leaves. The image was matted with Pure Poppy cardstock, and the green is Bazzill (I think it's Parakeet??) that coordinated with "Landscape" Palette ink used to stamp the greenery. I borrowed my husbands embroidery floss to thread the buttons and adhered them with Glossy Accents.

Thank you for stopping by! I look forward to browsing all of the wonderful blog hop creations throughout the day! Here's a link to the Blog Hop post so you can check it out if you want!!

Whale you be my Valentine?

Whale you?

This image is from Whimsie Doodle. I have loved their cute designs for a long time and just bought one of the new releases called Valen-tinies! I printed a bunch of the designs out on kraft cardstock and used coloured pencils with Gamsol. If you don't know what Gamsol does, it's paint thinner that breaks down/smooths out your pencil colouring and blends the colours together for a wonderful result!

A lot of die cuts and layers make this card pretty heavy and THICK, but I love it... It's going to have to go in a really big envelope, that's all!! lol.. The papers are October Afternoon, and I used Nestabilites to cut the loopy frame, and Marvy circle punches to cut out the whale and mat.

Thanx for stopping by!

Yes, it's called: Clean and Simple!

I showed my husband the following two cards:

He said, "Is that it? They're awfully simple aren't they?"
To which I responded, "They're supposed to be simple. It's a style called 'Clean and Simple!'"

I swear I have that conversation with him every time I made a CAS card. I guess it means he doesn't really like this style but I love it. To me they have a lot of impact and deliver a punch of quiet elegance and style....

I made these two cards for today's Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS. I encourage you to check it out because today's muse, artsy_em, has a wonderful CAS gallery!

Love, Love, Love

Scroll down or click here for the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop post!

As the Beatles said, "Love is all you need...."
That song has been in my head since I made this card last night. It's not the worst song to have in my head, except I don't know all of the lyrics so the chorus keeps going round and round in my head "All you need is love - dun dun dah dah dun.." Anyway, enough of my psychosis:

Here's today's card:

Stamps: technique tuesday - love, Ali
Paper: pink paislee, bazzill, papertrey ink
Ink: memento
Accessories: crocheted flower- making memories

Technique Tuesday Blog Hop

Welcome to the first-ever Technique Tuesday blog hop!
I’m a Stamping Tech for Technique Tuesday and
today, the Technique Tuesday Stamping Techs and some of our best friends are joining together to hold this first-ever blog hop to share one of our favorite projects made with Technique Tuesday’s stamps.
The hop begins on Teri’s blog. She is linking to a designer’s blog. And then that designer is linking to someone’s blog and so on. Teri has a list of all the hop’s players so please check out her blog if you get lost along the way.
With every comment you leave on the blog path, you’ll be entered to win a Pocket Full of Posies stamp set from Technique Tuesday:

Teri will pick one person at random from all the comments made by midnight Eastern time on 1/24 to win the stamp set. So the more comments you make, the better chance you have to win.
Be sure to check Teri’s blog on 1/25 to see if you are the lucky winner.

Here's my project made especially for the hop:

I used a Technique Tuesday set called The Cupcakery. (And it's only $2.99!!)
The papers are some older Basic Grey and the big, wide ribbon has survived in my stash for 3 or more years, so I don't know where it's from, but it matches perfectly!!

The next stop on this hop is the blog of Laura

Thanks for joining our hop today!

I've got your number...

This card is being featured on the SRM blog today and I am so happy to share this one with you today. I really love it!

I used some stickers from "We've Got Your Number"!

Individually-cut number stickers to use on whatever: calendars, birthday cards, or like I did here, highlight a special date! I used "February" from this set of stickers and viola, the sentiment is complete! I paired the stickers with some yummy WeR papers (last year's collection) and some brand-new Making Memories ribbon. It cost an arm and a leg, but it's gorgeous! There are three different heart shapes and I had to be difficult and cut them out using three different methods. Actually, they were all in my spare die-cut box and it just worked out. The kraft heart is a Silhouette shape, the red is a Cuttlebug shape, and the black is a heart punch.

For the Perfect Pair

I made this card for today's Featured Stamper challenge over at SCS. I chose this card by whoistracy to "case" because it caught my eye right away! It's a great layout and I love the colour scheme. I didn't realize I copied the colours she used, I just happened to have these papers sitting on my table at the time... Happy accident!

I used a stamp set by Technique Tuesday called Fruit Stand to create the main image. I sponged two different green inks on the stamp, then added a little red to one edge.. I love pears that have that rosy glow. I personally HATE pears, but I think they're cute!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamps: Fruit Stand- Tech. Tuesday
Paper: BoBunny, Bazzill, PTI
Ink: memento- bamboo leaves, ladybug, new sprout; versamagic- jumbo java
Accessories: ribbon- may arts, sizzix large scallop die, nestabilites

Flutter by Butterfly

Today's "Ways to Use it" Challenge at SCS is to use butterflies. I LOVE butterflies (I don't know why or how this love developed, but such is life) and find that I used them often as a focal point in a card, whether it be a stamped image or a die cut. Today it's the latter...

As I was browsing a recent issue of Paper Crafts I came across a wonderful card by my DT buddy, Tanis, and HAD to copy the layout... There is no ink/stamping/copics on this card, and I'm okay with that! The sentiment is a Melissa Francis rub-on, and everything else is BoBunny papers and die cuts made with my Slice digital cutter.

Be Mine

I told you I would be making more Valentine's Day cards this year, right??? I've consolidated my Valentine's Day papers and embellishments and yowza I've got a lot of stuff.. Not A LOT a lot, but enough so that I don't need to buy anything new for this year's cards... So here are a couple of cards made with some Making Memories papers and embellishments:

The stamps are from Pink Cat Studio and I've had them for a couple years but never got around to using all of them.. They're so cute and fun to colour. Anyway!! Right now I'm looking out the window, watching the snow come down and crossing my fingers for a snow day tomorrow! lol!

Thanks for dropping by!

January Mint Motif Sneak Peek!

Are you in Valentine's mode? I've been kind of lazy the past few years and haven't churned out as many lovey-dovey cards as I should, but this year is different! I am going to have a pile for the flower shop, a pile for my friends/colleagues, and a pile for ME... It's a lofty goal but this is a good start!

This is a sneak peek of a set being released on January 14th by Kimberly Crawford for her stamp line Mint Motif at i {heart} papers called "Sweet Hearts" and I am so excited about all of the possible combos... Here's my card:

There are a tonne of yummy stamps and sentiments in this set as well as a border stamp (I used in on this card to make the solid cardstocks patterned). Check out the rest of the Mint Motif DT for their sneaks, and I'll see you again on the 14th! (Kimberly has a set to give away at her blog on the 14th, so be sure to check it out!)

Supplies: Paper: Papertrey Ink, Bazzill, American Crafts; Ink: Versamark,  Memento- black, canteloupe, rose bud, ladybug, cottage ivy; nestabilities, black pen, glossy accents, copic markers, and a small eraser to create the dots in gum-ball machine.

I never get tired of this design....

It's fun. It's whimsical. And it's EASY! I like it!

I used two different heart punches with various colours of plain cardstock. Some of the hearts are raised to create dimension. A simple sentiment (Love, Ali by Technique Tuesday) stamped in white adds the perfect finishing touch. This card was made for the SCS Free for All challenge, to use pink, purple and hearts!

Love is in the Air...

At least it will be in my card-making until Feb. 14th!! This card is a combo of the current TSG challenge (mix stamp sets), the Technique Tuesday challenge (use Polka Dots) and today's Sketch Challenge at SCS. Without further ado, today's card:

The sentiment on the inside says "Love is in the Air"

Thank you for taking a look! I hope everyone is adjusting to work/school schedules again! This morning really hurt.... lol
