I had to play along with this challenge because I love this color palette!
I have been enjoying my "summer vacation" (I put it in quotes because I am actually working at my LSS 4-5 days a week, and henceforth, NOT a vacation...) and have been reveling in the time I do have off! I have been scrapbooking like a mad-woman and I will show some of my layouts as soon as they're photo'd...
I looked through my stamps and didn't find anything that "spoke to me" so I went searching through my Silhouette folder looking for cuts and found the bird image, and the banner image. I "welded" them together, and this is what I got:
A little vinagey, a little classic, a little ME. It's quiet and peaceful, and I love it! The patterned papers are older Stampin' Up! designs that I've been holding on to, but I let them go for this card. I have been learning how to let go of a lot of my stuff with my scrapbooking knowing full-well that I am going to want tonnes of stuff when the fall/winter designs come out.. So move on over old stuff!!! I also used a brand-new SRM sticker for that perfect touch!
Thanx for looking!!
For local (Langley lower-mainland) stampers:
I have ran an idea by a friend of mine who loves crafty stuff and she's on board, so I wanted to run it by you too! I want to do a monthly card night at my place, and I want to invite YOU! Similar to what some Stampin Up! demonstrators do, I would like to host a get-together with like-minded people, come over and make some cards with my stash (i'll have everything prepped) and have a good time. I will be doing this with my friend and hopefully her mom (are you in Doreen????) so please let me know if you wanna come over and play!! I will charge a small fee/card to cover expenses... So.. Leave a comment and I will get back to you with details...

I have a very addictive personality. It manifests itself in many ways in my life, but one of the most annoying ways is my reading habits.. I cannot simply read a book over 2 weeks at a leisurely pace, it's DAY 1, DAY 2, DONE!!! I hate it because I really can't do anything else while I'm immersed in a book because I AM ADDICTED to it.. So I've been absent recently because of this book:
It was a really tough book to read, but needless to say I could not put it down. I am relatively naive when it comes to the civil rights movement in the United States owing mostly to where I live (Western Canada) where our population is mainly caucasian and more recently, asian. I hadn't met an African American person until I was 18 years old and went to college in Iowa. Weird, eh? I'm not saying I didn't know that the racism issue was/is bad, and this book didn't show me how bad it was and still is for many, many people, but I learned a lot from it, and I'm grateful for it.. I HIGHLY recommend this book. You won't be able to post to your blog or do any crafts until you read it from front to back.. Promise.
So here are a couple of cards I managed to make today:

So here are a couple of cards I managed to make today:
Card #1:
Stamps: trendy trees (sentiment)
Paper: SU! Dsp, bazzill brown
Ink: pti snow white
Accessories: ribbon (may arts), silhouette digital cutter, white gel pen
Card #2:
Stamps: elzybells
Paper: cosmo cricket, bazzill
Ink: ranger - lamp black
Accessories: copic markers, liquid applique, tattered angels mist (chalk white)
While I was working at Clipper Street the other day I had a stack of Bazzill cardstock in my hand and I could not get the colour combo out of my head!! Three shades of a blue-green and three shades of olive swam around in my brain until I finally created....
And then I made a little notecard set with some Cutting Cafe goodies:
(just print the template out on cardstock, cut, score, voila!)
Then I made some cards with some long-neglected fish stamps:
Okay, I think the combo is out of my system, but MAN I love those colours together. Could they BE any prettier??
Stamps: whipper snapper, very punny, amuse (other fish) DRS designs (bubbles) PTI (fresh alphabet)
Paper: bazzill, pti
Ink: ranger - lamp black
Accessories: clear glass dew drops, ribbon, copic markers, nestabilities, srm stickers
I've been admiring some library card stamps lately and man was I thrilled that The Cutting Cafe came out with some in a variety of colours! Just open the PDF and print! Or, to do what I did: open the PDF in Photoshop, adjust the size and then print.
I printed the library card out on kraft cardstock, then stamped "Dad" with a couple letters from a Papertrey Ink alphabet set. My dear ol' Dad is turning 60 in a few days. My present for him is my talents as a chef and I will be "catering" his party. I cooked for his retirement party last year and all of his friends loved my food, so I hope to wow them again.. anyway..
Here's the card. I played along with today's Sketch Challenge at Splitcoaststampers..
The "Happy Birthday" is also from The Cutting Cafe. It came in a set called "Birthday Fun."
Have a great day!

CAS! (Clean and Simple)
I made a bunch of these because they are so cute, and EASY!
The piggy and sentiment are Stampin' Up, and the notecard is
from A*muse.
I have wanted Everyday Button Bits for a long time JUST so
I could make cute cards like these! I saved up and got the set this past month
and these are the first cards I've made!
This was my Mom's Mother's Day card. The background was stamped
with an Amuse stamp called "Zinnia." I love combining white, cream and yellow
and I have added the bright fuscia colour into the mix for some ZING!
Viola! Cardmaking CAN be quick and easy!

Over at the Moxie Fab blog they have a "Tuesday Trigger" challenge where you have to make a card
based on a given image. This image is BEAUTIFUL and I would LOVE a place setting
like this, but alas, I am not sophisticated enough.. But I can make a card based on it!
All different colours and textures in the browny-beige family.
Thanx for lookin'!
Supplies: Paper: Bazzil, Making Memories(Lace), Quickutz(cork); stamps: PTI (dotted background);
Stampin' Up! Butterfly die; PTI grosgrain ribbon, button, twine.
It was an easy school day today paired with the fact I had to leave early to take my son to the orthodontist! What did that mean for me? I had some lovely time for crafting!! Here's a color challenge card I made with a Stampavie image in the afternoon:
The cake was paper pieced. Here were the pieces that I assembled:
And then everything put together:
The copics I used were:
And this is the card I made tonight. A sketch!!
I used Pink Paislee papers and a Stampin' Up set called "Love Owl-ways". Yep! I'm on a valentine kick!! I guess we'll see if I can be this productive tomorrow!! take care!

Welcome if you have arrived here from the blog hop! If you just happened upon my blog, we, the Jacksonbelle Design Team, are officially welcoming the new DT members with a blog hop today! But first: my challenge card!
This is the sketch, and I altered it a little by making a square card, and making the "blue" layer a little shorter! Here's my take:Now it is my *pleasure* to introduce:
Heather Pulvirenti
This is what she had to say:
My name is Heather Pulvirenti, though most people in the blogosphere know me as Heather P. :) I live in Columbia, MD with my husband Jason, our 4 year old daughter Lindsay, and an assortment of little boogers (aka our cats and dog). Our daughter is a total spitfire, and I just love her to pieces.
I was born in England, and have spent most of my life in the US (in Maryland and Virginia), except for the four years we lived in Canberra, Australia (my mom was career Air Force). I am currently a SAHM, and though I had reservations about this transition, I really love the time I get to spend with my daughter and wouldn't do it any differently given the chance.
Other interesting tidbits... I was a member of the SCS Dirty Dozen in 2009, and am shamelessly addicted to all things 80s, polka dots, and cupcakes! :)

This has been quite the year. It will probably be one of the most
EXPENSIVE years of my life, but hey, this is what happened:
- Had my first surgery: gall bladder removal. Not fun!
- Completed a very successful first year at my new school as music director
- Bought my first new car, a Mazda 3 Sport (fully loaded!)
- Got married
- Went on a month-long honeymoon across Canada and the US
- Started my second year at school with a 300% increase in choral students! YAY!
So all-in-all, a great year!! I have had more time and have MADE
more time for blogging and crafting, and I just compared my post numbers for '08 and '09, and for
many months I have DOUBLED the amount of posting I did. (May 2008 I had ONE post! Yikes)
And I pretty much blog everything I make, so that tells me I wasn't creating
much in 2008 but really turned it around this year!
Here are my favourite cards from 2009:
January
February
March
April
May (this is one of my all-time fav's!)
June. This is one layout from a scrapbook I made for my SIL.
July
August (and this was made on my honeymoon in a hotel by the Mall of America!)
September
October
November
and finally: December!! Phew!
Thank you for the year of inspiration, support, and kind words!
I wish you all a very Happy New Year, and I'll
see you in 2010!!!
Krystie Lee has been making some really cute one layer cards with a rectangle stamp as the "background" and I've been loving the look. I don't have a rectangle stamp (WHY DON'T I HAVE A RECTANGLE STAMP????????) so I used post-its to block off an area to sponge my colour into.. I love how it turned out.
I used some old Buckaroo Blue paper from SU! and a new-to-me set called Pocket Silhouettes (also SU!). The sentiment is Whipper Snapper and the butterfly (my favourite part) is Amy Butler.
I have H1N1 (or just plain SWINE as we call it around here) and it's not fun, but it's not the worst I've felt either. I was afraid I'd die or something, and to my pleasant surprise it feels like the flu!! (it's not pleasant but you know what I mean....) But hopefully I will have some energy to craft tomorrow as I've been forced to take some time off from school. (I miss you guys!!!!)
So keep safe! Wash your hands! And don't jinx yourself by saying "I won't get swine!"

I was a scrapbooker first. I started when I was pregnant (late 2001) and I wasn't very good! LOL.. I guess we're never any good when we first start something, but I was constantly second quessing myself, agonizing over simple decisions for HOURS. It was painful to scrapbook back then.
I got busy for a few years after Phoenix was born. I was a university student, single mom,
and I had a full-time job, so scrapbooking didn't really happen again till after I got my first degree in 2005.
Then, in 2006 I was introduced to stamping and card making, and I said to myself,
"I already have all the stuff, I wouldn't really need to
buy anything more to make a few cards here and there..." HA!
So I've been addicted to "carding" for 3 years now, and I don't really do much else. Read? Nope.
Watch TV? Not really. Compose/arrange music? Not unless I have to. It's sad really...
So I've decided that I am going to start scrapbooking again, and this time I have two
really great reasons: Wedding & Honeymoon! (I also have a couple of compositions
to get done so I should add those to the list).
So here are a two layouts I finished that are the beginnings of my Wedding scrapbook.
it would coordinate with my wedding pictures, so all I had to do was find some papers.
The MME paper I chose was not an obvious choice, but I think it goes really well
with all of the elements!
(Additional supplies: SU! Scallop punch, PTI Fresh Alphabet, Memento ink, Elzybells Kraft cardstock)
and isn't that prima so cool?
Next, using the same supplies,
I used OLW's word: Gratitude as a jumping-off point for my layout:
I wrote about being grateful that Phoenix was so involved in the wedding, that he loves
my hubby, and that together we made the day a day we'll remember forever.
(Additional supplies: American Crafts accents, Technique Tuesday stamps,
Spica Pen, chipboard die-cut letters)
Our challenge is simple:
make a fall/Hallowe'en card.
So I used some sweet new Basic Grey Halloween papers in the background.
I couldn't decide what to do as an image, so I dug out some old stickers
and stuck 'em on! Everything was airbrushed with a mustardy
I also wanted to mention we are featuring Jenni Bowlin products this week
on the Jacksonbelle Blog. So here's a card I made with almost all Jenni products:
The products are so unique! I just love 'em.

This week's featured stamper at SCS is jo-jot and here's the card I "cased." I was on a mission to use stickles, so I chose the "Crazy for Cupcakes" set from Stampin' Up because I could fill in the icing with pretty, sparkly stickles! Aren't they fun? Here's a sideways view that shows the sparkle better:
and here's the whole card:
and here's the whole card:
Stamps: crazy for cupcakes
Paper: basic grey (Lemonade), papertrey ink
Ink: Momento
Accessories: ribbon (amuse), brads (bo bunny), making memories tag, copic markers, stickles, cuttlebug embossing folder
I hope you've enjoyed the sneak peeks I've shown you the last couple of days. The stamps are available now in the Elzybells shop!
Now I will show you the last card I made using "Pamper Yourself" and "Thank You For."
Pamper yourself is what Elizabeth calls a "Dinkie Set" that is unmounted rubber and comes with a variety of images and Thank You For is a clear set of images that have very unique and versatile sentiments.
I pulled out the ol' sewing machine for this card at the last minute. I was just about to glue everything together when it just looked a little basic. I said to myself "what would make this card go to the next level?" and my answer to myself (it was 12:30 am okay!!) was sewing!!!

Check out the rest of the dt design's and be sure to head over to the Elzybells store.
