Into the Woods....

So I've been playin' with the new Blogger features available
and have changed the look of my blog a little... So don't
mind me if my blog is a little Bi-Polar until I figure it all out.

Anyway... Into the Woods. I showed you a card made with
some of that wood paper from Creative Imaginations the other day,
well here are a couple more:

A very clean and simple card with a sticker from "Sticker Sentiments - Baby", a prima
some yummy PTI ribbon and Viola!!

This second card is a favourite of mine:

The wood paper is actually the same colour as the previous card,
I just sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to tint the wood
to the colour I wanted.. It turned out beautifully!
Again, I added a Prima, a sticker sentiment and that's it!

Did I inspire you to buy some wood paper?? haha..

Take care!

Eastery Goodness...

I'm sorry, but am I the only one that's caught off-guard by the fact that it's
the end of March?!??!??!
I can't believe it! This year was supposed to go slowly.. I wanted to enjoy my
time with my choirs who are doing SO well this year and.... Well time is just slipping away again.
Easter is upon us so I am trying to crank out the easter cards and gifts, and here
are a couple more cards made with
Express Yourself- Easter (from SRM Stickers)

Have you guys tried this new wood paper that's actually REAL WOOD??
It's nuts. I love it. lol... It's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it...

Take care!

Easter Christmas Tree

HUH? Easter Christmas Tree what???

So I decorated a foam flower mold for Easter... Is that a crime??
This project was featured on the SRM blog the other day so I thought I would
share it with you guys!

I used Making Memories paper, chipboard and brads (I think the collection is 2 years old...)
and this set of stickers:

I just started throwing stuff on the tree, covering chipboard with stickers...

added a little glitter....

until my tree was full!

Ian asked what it was for and I really had no response except:
"Uh... to put out and look at... at Easter time...."

So it's not functional.. Who cares!
The card I made to match is functional, though:

So am I totally crazy or what???

Happy Easter-time!

(I'm gonna go put my Easter tree out now....)

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge

Welcome to another fabulous Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenge!  Since Easter is right around the corner, our challenge this week is to a make a card/project with an Easter or Spring theme.  We’d love for you to play along!  If you do, be sure to leave us a link in the comments section of this post or use keyword  JBE098 when uploading to SCS or PCP.

I decided to make a little easter basket with BRAND NEW Silhouette cut.
And by brand-new I mean just released today!! I'm so glad I used a cut right away.

Once I adhered the butterfly to the basket I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Mist.
The butterfly is cut from Kioshi Basic Grey paper... Purple is growing on me! ;)

That beautiful bud is a prima flower.

(Sentiment is an SRM Sticker)

Thanx for looking. Please take a look at my team-mate's projects too!

was a dream come true to be asked to design for her!

to be asked to design for Whipper Snapper..)

This month Anna has released two sets that are availble
cling-mounted and unmounted. Here are the sets:

Think Happy Thoughts

Ian's Handiwork

Do your "other halves" have a crafty hobby?

I gotta tell ya. It still sometimes weirds me out that Ian cross-stitches. I don't know why.
Over the years he's been really sporatic with his "pictures" but lately he's been pumping them
out at a pretty good clip. Here's his latest:

Cross-stitching is something I am not really "into" (unless it's on cards kinda like
Nina and her daughter do.. I LOVE that!) But I really like the
colours in this project and I think it's going to look great framed and hanging up in
our niece's bedroom.

I remember my mom cross-stitching but it was never this intricate.
I think Ian is really good at this! (But what do I know?!?!)

Take Care!

Tutorial: Colouring with Pencils and Gamsol

My favorite medium to colour with is Copic markers, but a close second is coloring with pencil crayons and odorless mineral spirits, or "gamsol." The gamsol kind of melts the crayon and blends colors together while helping to soften lines left by the pencils. I get a lot of questions about pencils and gamsol because it's growing in popularity and it's also an inexpensive alternative to copics. I use Koh-I-Noor pencils ($25/set) and Derwent pencils ($1.50 each) so they are WAY cheaper than my $1000 collection of markers!

Here are the supplies I used:
Gamsol comes in a big bottle so I transfer it into a smaller
squeeze bottle for easier pouring. I use a tea-light holder as a vessel for the liquid.

Blending stumps are the tools for holding the gamsol and
blending the colors together. I used one tip for each color. The alternative
is to sand the tips down to clear the color away. This is quicker...

I color-match my pencils to the papers I will be using. Because I don't have
hundreds of colors, blending different shades together is often needed
so I like to try the colors out before I color the image.

I roughly color the image going over the entire area with
the lightest color, then add shading with darker colours on the edges.

Dip the stump into the gamsol and you will see it suck up the liquid.

Start by blending the darker colors and blend into the lighter colors.
You will have to re-dip the stump into the gamsol as the tip dries out.
This is the image after I blended the initial layer of greens..
I added more dark a couple times until I got the contrast I was happy with..

I used the same process to color the area around the froggy..

I colored the frog image twice and cut one out and
popped it on top of the other. (paper tole)

(The sentiment is from a St. Patricks Day set of stickers from SRM!)

Fluttery Goodness!

I have had some challenges to fulfill lately and I couldn't resist
using my new Flutter products by Making Memories!

This first card is for a challenge The Stamping Boutique is hosting at

I've never coloured an image in such a way (all pastels...) but I thought it suited the papers
and the image! I love how it turned out!

The second project is for this week's Sketch This sketch:

I can't photograph my layouts very well, but I hope it's good enough
to see all of the elements!!

Check out this post over at the SRM Blog!!!

At SRM Stickers our March Challenge is now underway! Create a *new* baby item (using stickers of course!), and link us to your creation via Mr. Linky at the end of this post. Our May Guest Designer will be chosen from the, if you'd like to design for SRM Stickers, give it a go! I'll be announcing our February Challenge winner/April Guest Designer, on Wednesday.

I am finding that I am turning OFTEN to SRM stickers for both
sentiments AND as a focal point on a project.
This is what I made for our month of BABY:

I used stickers from this Quick Cards sticker sheet:

I layed the sticker on top of some cream cardstock and adhered it to the
card with foam squares. The cards were cut out with Nestabilities and the Cuttlebug.

So get those ideas flowin' and play along with this month's challenge! We'd love to see
your baby sticker creations!!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge

Welcome to another Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenge.  Our challenge this week is a color challenge.  Make a card or project using white, brown and blue.  We’d love for you to play along.  If you do be sure to leave us a link to your project in the comments section of this post or use keyword JBE095 when uploading to SCS or PCP.

Here's my card.. It's gotta be one of the simplest cards I've ever done..
It's all about the image with this card! Don't you just love
her little face? I coloured this with my various coloured pencils and odourless mineral spirits.
I fooled my husband, he thought I did this with Copics so I must have done an "ok" colouring job!

See what else the 'belles did with Blue, Brown and White!
Supplies: Stamps: "My Umbrella" by MFT; Basic Grey Patterned paper, Bazzill, Neenah; PTI Ribbon and bulk blue button.
