Okay, Happy News!

With the sad news about Jacksonbelle Embellishments closing I thought I would have room in my life for another DT, so I applied for The Cutting Cafe DT and was selected! I have been playing a lot with my Silhouette a lot lately, and The Cutting Cafe has a lot of cool cuts and shaped cards. The prices are great too!

The black banner is from a set called: Assorted Banner Templates and Cutting Files
To use the cuts with a Silhouette email me for advice, and GO HERE for info on their digital stamps and cutting files.

Okay, I'll stop using banners!! They're just too hard to resist, though! I love how adding a banner instantly makes the card a celebration.

So I hope you're reading to see my cutting creations, because I'm stoked!!
Thanks for stopping by!

LAST Jacksonbelle Tuesday Post

It's funny, I thought I've been with Jacksonbelle Embellishments for YEARS, but when I checked how many times I had posts with Jacksonbelle as the label, sure enough, it said 52. I was like, only a year?? It's not like "Wow.. It's felt like eternity being on this team," it's more like, "I know these gals so well it feels like I've been on this team forever," and now it's time to say goodbye... Make sure you head over to the store to see what's left, because there are only two days left of Jacksonbelle Embellishments. Good luck Lindsay in your future endeavors!!

I made a card for a co-worker that's about to burst! This card pretty much looks like she does right now!

Pink Paislee papers were the source of inspiration for this project (the yellow paper is still available here for $0.17). The doilie and girl are Silhouette shapes.

The doilie is popped up on the card base, and some pretty crystals were added for some pizazz. The papers were so strong I didn't think I should add too much else!!!

So for the last time, be sure to check out the blogs of the Jacksonbelle design team for more  inspiration! Take care ladies, I'm gonna miss you!!

And stay tuned tomorrow for what I'm doing next!!

It's a "Tobi Card"

I've heard people describe my cards as: colourful, bright, bold but I don't intentionally create with those directives in mind, I just create! Whenever someone gets handed a thick card envelope from me, my hubby or my son, they inevitably squeal "IT'S A TOBI CARD" and rip it open to find out what's inside.. What makes my cards ME? I can always recognize my own cards, ofcourse, but what is my style? Is it always the same thing? Today I'm sharing 3 cards that have one component in common: Colour!
Here are three cards that I would consider recognizably "Tobi Cards", but what do I know? The first two revolve around the colours of the patterned papers I've chosen to work with, the last one is just a combination of pretty colours brought to life with copic markers!

Card 1) Inspired by the colours of the WeR papers. I coloured a MFT image, made a flower with some pretty yellow ribbon, cut that scalloped trim with the Silhouette, and after all that it became a "Tobi Card." When I pick out patterned paper I look for small patterns (so when I cut it up for a card you can still see what the pattern is supposed to be) and the colour combo.

Card 2) Do you have a butt-load of thickers? I do! I have over 30 packs of American Craft's letter stickers, and yes, it's sad.. Really sad... So here's my meager attempt at using them. They are really great for adding big bold sentiments to cards, I just tend to forget about 'em...

Card 3) I made this card for a challenge but never got it uploaded in time.. haha.. Story of my blogging life.. Anyway. I used some unconventional colours for the clouds (because of the colour challenge) and WOW do I love it! Cream clouds! Who wouldda thunk? An old Making Memories tag and some yummy PTI ribbon finished off this card that included some Studio 64 (Papertrey Ink) stamps..

Have an awesome weekend!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge!

We are down to our last couple Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenges :(
Our challenges for the entire month of June are to use your favorite Jacksonbelle products.  We’d love for you to play along with us!
**Jacksonbelle Embellishments is closing it's virtual doors. Everything is 75% off until June 30th. Store will close after that and all must go. Thank you so much for all your support!***

I used some Pink Paislee papers paired with a few SRM Stickers. I cut out the various circles with Nestabilities and layered them! Here's a side view to show you the dimension this card has:

And just because I love a challenge, these colours were chosen for Kristina's Reader's Choice Color Challenge #4.

What a great weekend!

Hello to all of my readers young and old... new and old.. new and NOT old, just been with me for a while.. *insert foot in mouth*
But seriously.. If you found my blog this weekend, WELCOME!
WOW that was a good blog hop put on by SRM! My team-mate's creations were amazing, weren't they?

Today I am sharing a bunch of cards I made to submit to magazines, but I just don't have a few hours to sit in front of the computer and fill out forms... SO! I can share them now!

  1. Stamp image in white ink on green cardstock.
  2. Round the top corners.
  3. Adhere ribbon on the bottom
  4. Apply SRM sticker

  1. Cut out label shape with die of choice. (I used a Tim Holtz Sizzix die)
  2. Using a sponge-dauber and cloud template create cloud background. (If you want a tutorial, let me know..)
  3. Adhere yellow ribbon with "Scor-tape" then the row of rhinestones on top!
  4. Affix SRM sticker above the ribbon.
  5. Mat label to black cardstock, and then adhere that to the card-base.
  1. Cut out label shapes using Nestabilities dies.
  2. Leaving the die on, airbrush the light purple colour as evenly as possible (i didn't do the best job..) and remove die to reveal white rim.
  3. Stamp sentiment on main panel.
  4. Adhere green cardstock and trim to card base.
  5. Sew on brown ribbon.
  6. Adhere the rest of the elements to the card!

SRM Blog Hop Featuring Cosmo Cricket's "DeLovely"

Hello and welcome to the SRM Stickers DeLovely Blog Hop! To start, please visit for a full list of blogs. The hop continues all weekend long with a chance to win a SRM Prize Package. You will need to “Hop” from designer blog to designer blog. You are required to ‘follow’ each blog, comment on all the posts, and return to SRM Stickers to leave a comment to say they’ve completed the Hop. They’ll have until the end of the weekend to complete the Hop.

The card sketch winner and a random blog hopper will each receive a SRM Prize Package and CC DeLovely Crafting Kit. They'll announce winners the following Tuesday, June 22nd.

I made three cards, and truth be told, I didn't quite know how I felt about the paper before I began. But now??? True Love!!

The colours are so bright and so fresh, who wouldn't love them? (Well, maybe a manly man, but we're not worried about them....) Here are the individual shots:

This was probably the quickest card I made. I actually cut up the cover of the "paper crafting kit" that has a "sneak peek" of what's inside on the cover.. Well.. It's already cropped side-by-side for me, so why not use it? I added a tag, a small chipboard accent, and a simple sentiment and viola!!

I think this is my fav'. The shocking pink against the stark white is just gorgeous! I sewed some PTI ribbon along the edge of the tag, and again, this was a super simple card to put together!

A while ago Becky Oehlers had a sneak peek on her blog of an upcoming PTI set and she generously shared a free PDF.. This is the image! I love this image. I've printed out a bunch just because I can't get enough of it!

**I used SRM Stickers Sentiments on all of my cards today.

Your next stop is Amy’s Blog. And, don’t forget to return to SRM to leave a comment. Random winners will be chosen and posted at the SRM Blog on Tuesday!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge!

First, EVERYTHING is 50% off at the Jacksonbelle Store

For this weeks challenge (feature Jacksonbelle product) I bring you a card featuring an SRM sticker, Papertrey Ink cardstock, stamp and ribbon,
and a lovely Making Memories Flower:

The blue paper was stamped in white ink to create a custom patterned paper. Whenever I set out to do a clean-and-simple card I always tend towards the hand-stamped background, versus patterned paper. It's just a cleaner look.. After that I gathered a little bit of the ribbon to the left, but otherwise just stuck it down and snipped the ends!

There are still a few Making Memories products left in the store, so check it out!

Take a peek at what the other Jacksonbelle's were up to:

Over the weekend

Over the weekend I attended my niece, Georgia's first birthday. She is such a beautiful child, with a beautiful head of hair. She's had 5 haircuts already, if you can believe it!!

I don't know about you, but I just can't pull cards out of my stash for people in my life, I have to make cards especially for them. This card, of course, will go unnoticed by Georgia, but it's the thought that counts, right?

I cut out her name and the "1" with the Silhouette, used a couple "thickers" by American Crafts for "st," and added an SRM Sticker (cut in half) on top! This is one of my favourite colour combos and was pleased with how it turned out..

Playin' with Actions...

I was out this weekend watching my brother play in his big band and I was able to capture a few cool shots. I was playing around with Photoshop and a few actions from Pioneer Woman's Photography section. (Note: you'll need the full version of Photoshop (like CS3 or greater) to run actions, they don't work with Photoshop Elements)

Isn't she a beauty? That's what I call her... My beauty.. I just cut off her straggly ear hair the other day, and after looking at these shots I'm glad I did!!

Here's my brother on the trombone:

I used a bunch of actions on this shot, but the most prevalent is the "Vintage" action.. Love it!

It's nearing the end of the school year and I've been buried under a pile of papers for the last week and don't quite see the light yet! I have a few projects to share soon, but for now I gotta get back to my marking.. :(

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge!

With a sad heart I'm here to tell you that Jacksonbelle Embellishments is closing their (her) virtual doors. It's so sad to see so many little stores closing.. :(
Lindsay is clearing everything out, so make sure you stop by and check out the savings!!

I made a quartet of cards (inspired by fellow DT member Heather) using Making Memories papers, and a paper from My Mind's Eye, as well as SRM Stickers.

I'm not known for layouts or scrapbooking per se, but I started out as a scrapbooker (not a very good one) and still like to document my memories in layout form! I used a bunch of October Afternoon elements and some SRM Stickers, ofcourse!

Check out the other ladies!

Here Comes the Sun

Remember when I designed for Elzybells? Man, I got so many great products during my year-long DT stint I can barely keep track of all of the stuff... I love looking through my stamp collection and finding old gems that re-inspire me, and these stamps are no exception: Surf's UpSurfer Boy, and Surfer Girl

I dug out these stamps because of this month's challenge at the SRM blog:

June's theme is "Here Comes The Sun". Some of us are still firmly planted in winter-like areas (like me!), but for many of you, Summer is well on its way. Your challenge is to create a card, layout, altered item (whatever you like!) that reflects our June theme.

The challenge winner will receive a hefty SRM Stickers Prize Package and an invitation to Guest Design for the month of August. Exciting, eh??!! So grab your summery supplies and get creating. Link your project to THIS POST

Here are my cards that will hopefully inspire you!

Didn't they turn out great?? Don't you love it when you have an idea in your head and it actually works?? haha.. I used stickers from one set:

Make sure you play along with the challenge. It's super easy and you don't have to worry about what products to use. Just make a summery card and submit! Good luck!!
