Woot! Technique Tuesday’s Stamping Techs are blog hopping again!
This month, we are playing with Technique Tuesday’s Little Treasures stamp sets.
These affordable little stamp sets are a great way to try out Technique Tuesday’s stamps. They sell for just $2.99 each. From ones of flowers to ones with Ali Edwards’ handwriting, there are a lot to choose from. I chose to use my favourite snowflake set, Flurry!

My favourite thing about this set is all of the different sizes and types of snowflakes they managed to fit in the tiny little package…. AND there’s a wonderful shabby sentiment to boot! How can you not love that??!! I cut the tag out with a Tim Holtz Sizzix die from blue cardstock and stamped snowflakes in various blue inks… Then I inked the edges and sprayed the whole thing with a few different blue and white glimmer mists to enhance the snowy look/feel. A gorgeous Prima flourish and some pleated ribbon and this is ready to go on a gift bag… SOON!

Today marks the last day of sneak peeks for this month’s TSG new releases and Torico is in the mood to make winter all warm and cheery. When I’m using multiple images from one set I find it a real time saver to come up with one layout, one set of papers, and one colour scheme. Here’s a quick card made really easy by picking some patterned papers that are a real focal point. Some design details to note:

• The violin music in the background (Echo Park Victoria Gardens) was slightly distressed with an edge scraper and a little Vintage Photo distress ink.
• The large flower was originally white and I sprayed it with a few glimmer mists and added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles for a little bling.
• The brown scalloped piece was first die-cut with a Spellbinders die then I added an SRM sticker sentiment and some white dashes with a gel pen to highlight the scallops a little more.. (Dark scalloped paper tends to get lost against a busier background)

Continuing my love-affair with all things distressed, glimmer-misted and tagged I have some new goodies to show you today. As you saw a few weeks ago I designed a class of 5 tags that I will be teaching at Clipper Street in November and December and they were such a hit that I quickly designed 5 more and added a second class! I taught the first class the other night and I was blown away by all of the ladies’ creativity and I can’t wait to teach the rest of the classes… I am going to show you a few tags that are in the “Tim-spiration Tags 2” class… If you’re in the area I would love it if you joined me!

Hey there readers! It’s been busy as ever here at the Tobi residence and this is a mighty challenging week.. In addition to my regular teaching job I have to work every single night, and Saturday. These weeks are the ones that give me grey hair, I tell ya. Good thing I just coloured it, haha!! I have been busy doing behind-the-scenes crafty stuff, though and one of the main projects I’ve been working on is getting cards/tags ready to go to the flower shop! I stopped in there the other day and discovered that over half of my cards have sold over the past month and the card rack is in dire need of replenishing!! So that got added onto the “to do” list and in spare moments when I haven’t been in a zombie-like state in my bed I’ve been crafting… Here’s one of my favourite recent creations:

This is a tag made from red cardstock and misted with a few different red glimmer mists. After the glimmer mists were dry I stamped a few images onto the background with Glimmer Glaze (it’s like nail polish).. One of the things I love about Glimmer Glaze is it acts like a resist to ink.. Once the glaze was dry I inked the edges and the whole card with Vintage Photo distress ink and the glaze resisted the ink thus popping out from the background!!

 

Fun stuff and you really can’t make a wrong turn with any of these products.. You just keep layering and layering until you’re happy.. I finished off the tag with a little Melissa Frances die cut and a little black lace.

In other news, I have to update you guys in case you haven’t heard about Katie Renz. You will remember the blog hop I participated in a few weeks ago that was raising money for Katie’s children because Katie was dying from stage 4 gastric cancer. She passed away this morning surrounded by family and friends peacefully in her sleep. (Read her husband’s last few posts here…) Even though I’ve never met her (or maybe I have and didn’t know it – we live about 30 minutes away from each other) her story has been on my mind constantly since I was introduced to her and her lovely blog. I kept going back to her post in December when she found out the source of her stomach aches was inoperable cancer and she was handed a death sentence. She handled herself with grace and courage and I could only hope to persevere as long as she did if I was ever faced with a similar challenge. My thoughts are with her husband and children as they face the next few horrible days without their mom and wife and I hope that they find peace knowing that Katie is finally at rest.

Have you seen this week’s There She Goes challenge: Au Natural? The challenge is simple: use twine, burlap, hemp etc somewhere on your card/project, upload it to a blog or gallery and link your creation on the TSG Blog! This is my second creation for the challenge and I used a couple different varieties of twine: natural hemp twine, and some yellow baker’s twine.

I created this tag from Bazzill double-thick paper (makes a great card-base as well as a firm tag) and some Basic Grey and My Mind’s Eye patterned papers. The focal image was stamped with a few stamps from the World’s Best stamp set and cut out with the coordinating die cut set. I love how whimsical and light this tag ended up being. I splattered a little Glimmer Mist amongst the butterflies and on the background so the white wasn’t so stark… This tag will be a hard one to give away.. LOL
