Hi there! I have a post up on the Stampendous! blog today... Here is my card made with Cling Poinsettia Background and a very useful sentiment clear set called ‘Tis The Season.



Like many of you, I LOVE Pinterest, and I have pinned a lot of cards lately featuring techniques using white embossing powder. For this project I used our standard Detail White Embossing Powder on watercolour paper. This technique was a challenge because this stamp is quite busy – it’s designed to be a background stamp – and it’s hard to see white-on-white; but once I started colouring in the poinsettias it started to get a little easier to see the design.



Here are the steps I took to colour this card:

1. Colour poinsettia petals with various red watercolour markers
2. Colour leaves with various green watercolour markers
3. Colour background with light aqua watercolour markers
4. Using a waterpen, go over the coloured areas by colour (first do all the red, clean off the brush, then the green etc…)
5. Mist the entire design lightly with gold or pearlescent glimmer mist

I found that I had to check my perfectionist tendencies at the door because the colours were going to run together no matter what, and in my opinion it turned out having a really elegant look for such a haphazard technique!

Sometimes a simple challenge is all you need to get the mojo flowing again! It’s a whole weekend of challenges at Splitcoast Stampers called “Virtual Stamp Night” and I played along with a challenge to make a bookmark. I had no idea what I was going to do or what I was going to use, but it worked out in the end!

I made sure to keep them flat so someone could actually use them as a bookmark, now the only question is – who gets them? lol..

Hi there!! I have a very bright and happy card to share this evening! It’s a double-duty card – challenge #1, I used this week’s iSpy Sketch! ISSC34 challenge is Joanne Basile (basilefamily @ SCS) and is based on this card. Here’s my version:

I used Amy Tangerine papers and embellishment (doily) and the image has to do with challenge #2. I made this card for our monthly feature at the There She Goes blog called TSG (Again!) where we feature 3 older sets. This set is called Wrapped in Joy and it’s awesome because the set is geared towards various gift-giving situations (Christmas.. Birthday…) and the art is just too cute! Check out the There She Goes blog to see the special feature!

Design Notes: I used Copic markers to colour the image, then I added some shading with a Pastel Chalk pencil in black with a blending stump… Oooooo… dramatic!!!

So Teri from Technique Tuesday challenged the DT to make a card with our new stamp set called Chevrons Two Step. Ummm… Easiest challenge ever. I don’t know about you but I took a little while to jump onto the chevron bandwagon, but I am here to stay!!

Here’s my card:


Nice, bold black chevrons on bright chartreuse paper. LOVE! I also inked up a new Ali set called All My Love and stamped it on some patterned paper. (It’s some Amy Tangerine paper that has lots of patterned polaroids on it.. so cool. just cut them out one-at-a-time as needed!)

Hey there readers! I have been so busy with school and work at my LSS that I have had no time – literally – to do anything crafty except for DT and class submission type stuff.. It’s been CRAZY! How crazy you ask? In the last 5 days I’ve worked not one, but two 15 hour days. No stops, no breaks, just one job to the next. I’m not built for this kind of hard labour, I tell ya. It’s wearing me out. But it’s what I have to do right now… This too shall pass.

So just like last year I’ve designed a tag class for my LSS and I am super stoked about it. Here’s my favourite tag from the bunch:

 

Isn’t it a beaut’?? That pop of red from the sentiment against that gorgeous blue.. It’s gonna be a blast to teach, I tell you!

SO only a few days left of summer… I hope to catch a few rays before they go away – although there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight, it’s HOT HOT HOT here right now! Take care…

Hi there. This month’s Greenhouse Society stamp set from Technique Tuesday makes me very happy… Take a look:



I stamped the image in Versamark and poured white embossing powder on top (and heated, of course). Then, using various mists, I sprayed the cardstock with the most scrumptious autumn colours I could find. To enhance the colours I added deeper colours with some distress markers (watercolour marker) to the main image and blended with a waterpen.

My favourite thing about colouring an image this way? There is no right or wrong way to do it! Spray, let it dry… Spray some more, if you want… Or not… It’s gorgeous no matter what!!

I don’t often use BoBunny (the colours are not usually to my taste) but these papers are BRIGHT BRIGHT, so I like ‘em!! Everything is BoBunny except for the trim (Maya Road) and the sentiment (Wishes by Technique Tuesday).

Hey there! A really quick post to share a project I am over-the-moon about…

LOOK AT THOSE COLOURS!!! AREN’T THEY AMAZING!!!!???? Okay.. I’m done.. But seriously. I put nearly all of the sentiments from this set: Magic of Christmas by Ali Edwards onto a clear block, stamped it with Versamark and threw some white embossing powder on it. THEN, I went to town with Ranger Dylusion mists and this is the result. POW!

If you’re a local reader, Clipper Street just got this stamp set in today. GO THERE RIGHT NOW! Unless it’s midnight, in which case you should wait till tomorrow at 10 am…

It's been a long time since I've paper-pieced, so I picked a pretty patterned paper for the mug (BasicGrey's PB&J) and went to town! I used one of my favourite sets from There She Goes called Perk Up because my go-to sweet treat is always some sort of coffee from Starbucks (or somewhere better if I can get it!). After cutting out the mug I added a little shading with my trusty charcoal pencil and blending stump. I feel like paper-piecing sometimes looks one-dimensional, so the shading really helps to make objects appear to be three-dimensional... At least I hope it does ;)

Hi again! I have been fiddling around with my mixed media supplies and whenever I’m trying out a new technique I like to try it on a tag first. I find that the hard/time-consuming part is the background and the easy part is the stuff on top! So I’ll show you the steps I took to make today’s project!

Step 1: Apply fancy technique to tag:



I have seen a lot of people playing around with white paint or white embossing powder as a resist and I think the result is stunning. To create this tag I used paint and dabbed it on with a foam applicator over a stencil. Once the paint dries it resists any inks or stains you put on top! I misted it with a few different sprays and inked the edges with brown ink.

Step 2: Add something interesting!



I started decorating by stamping directly onto the tag with archival ink. I chose this ink because it dries on top of paint – it won’t wipe away. By the way, I used an awesome set called Vintage Typewriter (a Perfectly Clear set) that includes the main image and a bunch of great sentiments.

Step 3: Add some dimensional elements:



I stamped the typewriter and sentiment onto white cardstock, cut it out and distressed the edges with brown ink.

People ask me ALL.THE.TIME. “What do you do with all of your tags??” Simple answer: instead of a card they get a tag hanging from a gift bag! Normally I don’t decorate the bag, but if I have time I will. As you can see, once the tag is attached to the bag and a little tissue paper is added, it looks awesome! Thanks for joining me today.

Hi there friends and readers! I am sorry I’ve been kinda quiet this past week or two.. I’m in full back-to-school mode and my body is just not on the same clock as the school… That’s all I have to say! lol… but seriously. I have some great kids and I’m really looking forward to my choirs starting up!

It is mostly cardstock and patterned papers (My Mind’s Eye), but the most important part – the sentiment – is a new Technique Tuesday stamp that I finally christened called Bright Idea. Thanks to this sketch, I love how this card turned out… YAY!!

September marks There She Goes’ FOURTH year in business, and to help us celebrate, we are having a month full of FUN – and to kick it off we have some great challenges for you!

Today’s challenge is brought to us by our blast from the past NEW trendsetter, Danielle!!!  She has challenged us to make a card or project using a banner of any kind you wish, with a birthday theme of COURSE!! It can be a handmade banner, a patterned paper with a banner on it, an image of a banner…the skies the limit!!

Here’s my card with a sentiment stamped on a banner die cut:

It hit me the other day as I was searching for a card for my brother-in-law that I have NO masculine cards! So my mission – in addition to using a banner – was to make it masculine. He’s just as cute as can be!! I used two stamp sets: Ba Donkey Donk, and Numbered Days.

Hi there! I'm here with a fun gift idea for the holidays. It’s sad, but true, that most of us have given up on wrapping paper and have turned to gift bags to disguise our precious gifts… Hey, I get it! Bags are easier to store, to use, to carry… But why not take one extra step and make them your own??!! For as long as I’ve been stamping I’ve been purchasing plain bags (usually of the kraft variety) and decorating them with tags, bows, ribbons, or stamping directly on the bag itself. Enter today’s project:

I used a beautiful set called Jumbo Vintage Santa (CRS5043) for everything! The triangle frame was made by stamping the banner stamp in a rectangle– it connected much better than I anticipated - and added some cardstock and a touch of patterned paper on the inside. And the main image; what more can you say about this jolly fella?? I stamped the Jumbo Santa on watercolor paper and coloured him with Distress Makers and a waterpen to blend.

I gave him some great, big rosy cheeks and added touches of grey to his glorious beard. I finished the top off with a couple of ribbons and a little bell. Very rustic!

I cannot wait to give this away at Christmas time! I hope you liked this project – it was a snap to make! Thanks for joining me!

Here is the card I made:





It is definitely not CAS because I wanted to play with my pretty papers and make lots of layers! I stamped a little scene with stamps from There She Goes Oh Crop! on watercolor paper... Then colored with distress markers. I made this card for a friend I am camping with right now, and my little family is up here so I thought this sentiment/scene would be perfect!! And it was!!! She loved it.
