Happy Hallowe’en!

Hi there! I hope wherever you are, you’re having a happy Hallowe’en. Here in Vancouver, BC it’s raining.. Actually, raining is a nice word for what’s happening outside – it’s more like a torrential downpour. Ah well! It’s not stopping the kids from knocking on my door every couple minutes!

I played along with this week’s TSG inspiration challenge: TSG179

One of my favourite fall drinks (my other fav: Salted Caramel Mocha… YUM!). Anyway.. Such a beautiful fall photo that inspired me to use the cutest set called Pumpkins on the Vine (and the sentiment from Fabulous).

She’s coloured with Copic markers and pastel chalk pencils. I used my Silhouette to cut out a bunch of the shapes (the cool label and clouds) and some pretty pearl lace finished it off!

To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project using the inspiration color challenge, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (November 5th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!

October New Release Blog Hop with Stampendous!

Hi there! All this week the Stampendous! design team has been sharing brand-new creations with our new releases for October. They are all now available on our website in addition to your local scrapbooking and stamping stores and favorite online stamping retailers, so check it out! There are a lot of great vintage-themed stamps, I can’t wait to try out some of the circus-themed sets… So trendy!

Today I used a set called “Rose Thoughts Perfectly Clear Stamps.” It’s a clear stamp set, just FYI.

oct26happyday

I coloured the rose with Copics (R89, 46, 32, 20; G29, 46, 43; BG01, 000, 0000) and added some shading with my General’s Pastel Chalk pencil in black. After the colouring was completed I used one of the most elegant Nestabilities dies to cut out the image. Once cut out, I left the die on the paper and sponged around the edge with Scattered Straw Distress Ink.

Here’s a list of all of the Stampendous! designers participating in today’s hop: (There are three random prizes for hoppers who comment!)

And here’s my card:

Technique-Tuesday-Greenhouse-10-12-Clear-Stamps-Large

Not a Greenhouse Society member yet? You can purchase the stamp set for a limited time through our Web site and at some retailers. Check with your favorite retailer to see if they carry our Greenhouse Society stamp sets.

Here’s my card:

IMGP1750

I stamped in Versamark onto kraft cardstock then poured white embossing powder on top. I figured using kraft as a base would give me a nice, muted look! I then used a few distress stains (Weathered Wood, Milled Lavendar and Picket Fence) to create the background. Basically I used the two colours (WW and ML) and went over top of them with the Picket Fence. It gives it that moody, foggy look.. So nice!

Check out the Technique Tuesday blog for more inspiration.. This is such a pretty set!

Thanks for visiting.

Stampendous New Product Blog Hop

I messed up..

I shared a card earlier with an image that's going to be released in January!

If you are coming here to see a new stamp I sincerely apologize.

I do, however, have a really cool card to share:

If you live in the area I will be teaching this in a class called "Cottage Christmas" and it features only Stampendous! stamps. I used our wonderful clear set called "Tis the Season" for the sentiments!

You can see more sneak peek projects on these blogs:

Oh Baby!

So a couple of colleagues of mine ( it's a double entendre since they are a couple that teach at my school) just had a baby and I went to look in my stash for a baby card and, what do you know, I didn't have one!! I thought about it and was like, yep, I don't make baby cards... Ever.... I need to make them more often!

This week's iSpy sketch features one of my favourite elements: a banner, so it was great fun to put together!
October 19 - ISSC38 is by Rosemary D. (rosigrld at SCS) and is inspired by this card.

I was thumbing through my stamps and came across this cute little image (Baby Giraffe by Stampendous!) and was like, YES! Unisex, adorable, fun to color.... It's a great staple in my stash. He/she is colored with copics with charcoal pencil accents, and I added a little sponging in the sky. The sentiments are SRM Stickers.

Here is how to play:

  • Create a paper crafting project (card, scrap book page or 3D item), based on the sketch provided.Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code ISSC38), and link it here with the inlinkz widget below.

Some Mummy Loves You

Hi there! All week on the There She Goes blog I've been posting about some great classic sets, one of them being Hauntingly Delightful... An awesome set!

Isn't he cute? I know, he's a mummy, but he's cute!!! lol...

So I have a little before and after for you.. It's hard to know what I've colored with what when you're looking at the final product.

So here's the image colored with copics (E40, 41, 43):

Looking at this, I could've used some darker markers in the color family, but the colors get brown instead of that dirty white color, so I used my charcoal pencil.

Is that more mummy-ish? I think so! I spent a lot more time adding the shading with the pencil than my Copics 'cause its just so darn fun!

Head on over to the TSG blog to check out our teams creations this week!

Best Wishes

Hi there! I couldn't wait to share this card with you...

A little while ago I downloaded a bunch of Silhouette shapes and cut them out with Copic X-press paper and set them aside for a rainy day. Some of the shapes are similar to Spellbinders, but with a twist - and I love 'em! So this main image was stamped on one such shape with brown Archival ink and embossed with clear EP. I coloured with Distress Markers (just lightly though because I wasn't using watercolour paper) and sprayed the whole area with "Biscotti" Perfect Pearls mist.

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies: Paper: MME patterned papers, Bazzill; Stamp set: September Greenhouse Society Stamp set from Technique Tuesday; Pearl Pin: Maya Road; twine: May Arts.

Thinking of You…

Today I am sharing the new Greenhouse Society stamp set from Technique Tuesday. Here’s my sample:

octgreenhouse

It’s a gorgeous image that conveys calm and peace along with two very simple sentiments. I thought of a warm autumn sky when I first looked at this stamp so I assembled all of my orange/yellow/gold glimmer mists and ink sprays and got to work creating a background. I quite literally used 8-10 different mists on watercolour paper and trust me, there’s no rhyme or reason – just spray!! One thing I like to do AFTER spraying all the mists is give the paper one last final mist over everything with water. There are a bunch of brands of mists out there that are made to react with water and a lot of times misting with water gets rid of messy splotches and weird colour mixes.

One final touch was to mount the image on brown glitter cardstock. It might seem like a weird choice, but there are a lot of copper highlights in real life and the glitter complements it beautifully..

Here is the stamp set:

iSpy Sketch Challenge #37

Yay!! Another week of inspiration from iSpy Sketches!! Fall is now in full swing here on the West Coast...It almost seems like a shock to the system but it's nice to be getting out warmer clothes and being able to justify those yummy hot Starbucks drinks. LOL!!!
This week's sketch is by Jean Cross (naturecoastcrafter at SCS) and is inspired by this card.

I tried out a technique that I saw Teri do on the Technique Tuesday blog. I didn’t quite do the “ombre” thing, but this background was created in a similar way: I scribbled a couple of different colours of watercolour crayons on a clear block, misted it with water, then smooshed it onto the cardstock. It served as a pretty base for my glittery clouds.
I stamped the sentiment (Bright Idea by Technique Tuesday) in black and drew a box around it, kinda like the inspiration card.

Here is how to play:
  • Create a paper crafting project (card, scrap book page or 3D item), based on the sketch provided.Post your creation on your blog or an online gallery (using a code ISSC37), and link it here with the inlinkz widget below.

ninja

He seriously could not be any cuter.
I picked some gender-neutral (leaning more towards masculine) papers and kept the layout fairly simple. I always think, if I gave this to a man, would I be embarrassed about how girly it is? This card passed the test.

ninjaclose

I coloured him with my copics and added some shadowy details with my trusty Charcoal pencil and blending stump. It really helps the image look 3-D. I can’t stop using it!!!

Ninja Skillz is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 26 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

Would you like to win the new Ninja Skillz stamp set? October Studio AE Blog Hop

Oh My Goodness!! I am so happy to be participating in this month's Studio AE Blog Hop! I love love love Ali's stamps and couldn't wait to play with this month's set called December Joys.. Here's my project:

So... Art Journalling.
It's taking the crafting world by storm.
I am very intrigued.
I bought a Dylusions Art Journal and this is one of my first attempts.

I used a Dylusions stencil to make the background with various mists.
I love getting inky.

I stamped a bunch of this month's stamps onto white cardstock and cut them out.

I gotta say that I'm not a journaller. I cannot keep a diary or anything of the sort, but I love creating in this fashion. I have a lot of the supplies needed, so I thought I would dip my toes in and see how the water feels... It feels great!

So do you want to win some PRIZES???
From all the comments made during the hop, we’ll draw at random for a $25 gift certificate from TechniqueTuesday.com.

Here's the Bloghop list:
Mendi Yoshikawa, our Studio AE guest for October

The winners will be announced on the TT blog on the 13th.

iSpy Sketches–Free For All Friday

oct4ispy2

Hi there! This week the iSpy Sketches design team is taking a look back at some of our favourite sketches and we’re calling it “Free For All Friday.” I took this opportunity to alter the sketch a little more than I did the first time around and use the original as more of a “jumping-off point.” It was a great creativity booster!

I used the sketch from ISSC #14. Here’s the sketch:

and here’s my card in full-colour:

oct4ispy

This is going to end up being a prototype for a Christmas card I make for a friend’s company. Their business colours are black and yellow – but I cheated and used dark brown instead… I hope they don’t mind! The poinsettia is a die cut by Spellbinders (one of my all-time fav's) and I cut out some Best Creations glitter paper. Have you ever used it? $3.99 a sheet, but it’s so pretty… In small doses…

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Cardshoppe; Patterned Paper: Echo Park; Glitter Paper: Best Creations; Sentiment Stamp: Jingle All the Way by Ali Edwards from Technique Tuesday; MME Twine.

Close at Heart

Hey there readers! I cannot believe it's October already! Every year September seems to fly by faster than it did the year before.. It's scary. There's so much to do the first few weeks back to school and I am finally starting to feel settled.. Finally!

I had a chance to get inky last night and I made a double challenge card. Check it out:

I played along with today's CAS challenge, and this week's There She Goes challenge: NO PATTERNED PAPER! Yikes! But no biggy.. I just bought a couple of stencils so I broke out one of them and had a little fun. I sponged three different inks onto plain white cardstock using ink blending tools.

Stamps: There She Goes - blossom by blossom
Paper: bazzill
Ink: various
Accessories: crafter's workshops stencil; hexagon spellbinders die

Do you want to play along with this week's TSG challenge?

To be eligible for the giveaway, create a card or project without using patterned paper, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (October 8th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!
