Not Sold....

There was a coupon at my LSS for 40% off so I decided to bite the bullet and buy a Thomas Kinkade stamp by Cornish Heritage Farms... It was hard! The first ink i used was not good because I could barely make out all the dots, and then once I found the right ink (my trusty Nick Bantock by Ranger in Lamp Black) I didn't know where to start... I don't like this style of stamp, if you've noticed I'm kind of a "trendy" or "modern" stamper, not traditional, but like I said, I just had to try...

I hate it (My card, not the stamp...) lol.. Any of you just not like them? Or am I the only one??? Or do I just suck at it??

  3. You did a fantastic job of colouring it, Tobi. But I'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only one who finds these stamps "yuck". They're not my style either. (Maybe you should sell the stamp - a lot of people love them!)

  4. I agree, the "modern" or "trendy" is definitely more up my alley. And it seems yours, too. That being said, however, your coloring job really is beautiful. Good job.

  5. You're not the only one! I can't stand them either. I contemplated purchasing one just to try it, and I'm so glad to hear from you that even after a purchase, it's still not worth it. Beautiful job coloring BTW. I like your "modern" look so much more.

    Happy Holidays!

  6. I thinkyou did an AMAZING job on it...but I agree...I am not into them...I am not a TK person in the first place and I would be at a loss for what to do with one!!!

  7. I agree -- TKs can be intimidating! But you've done a beautiful, beautiful job with this one, especially for your first one! I'm more of a trendy gal, too, when left to my own devices, but once I've finished a TK and stepped away from it for a while, I can really appreciate how beautiful they are. (And -- full disclosure -- I am on the TK team, so I'm totally biased. :) ) By the way, sooo much depends on the paper -- super, super smooth cardstock is best, and my favorite ink to use is VersaFine with the TKs.

ANYWAY! Your card is beautiful, and I LOVE your adorable blog banner! Merry Christmas, Tobi!

  8. Okay, first- your card is gorgeous- the scene is so pretty... however, I do agree that it's not your style, and there's a lot going on. Like you, I've seen some really pretty things w/the stamps, but Kincade (art and stamps) scream "Grandma's living room" to me!! LOL!
