Hi again! I’m here to share with you another class I’ve designed for Clipper Street, and this time the focus is on My Mind’s Eye “Nostalgia” papers, my favourite Hero Arts stamp set (Posies) and Ranger Distress Markers. All of the colouring was done with one marker/section (ie. the yellow flower was coloured with ONE yellow marker, the leaves/stems were coloured with ONE green marker etc…) to show the students how easy and QUICK it is to get a beautiful coloured image in a snap!

I’ve spent the better part of the weekend preparing and putting the final touches on a couple of new classes that will be offered at Clipper Street in July/August. As always, I aim to make the cards challenging, interesting, educational, and most importantly, beautiful! It’s never an easy task, designing a class, because you never know what the customers are going to go for, but all I can do is do my best and hope it does well!

Hi there! I’m here with a second look at this month’s Greenhouse Society stamp set from Technique Tuesday.. This stamp is an “instant classic” and I am totally smitten..

I love this stamp in any colour and I thought I would give it a go with white on grey… Love it!! What a quick and easy birthday card, right? I kept trying to fiddle with it and add stuff, but I think this stamp is great on its own.. I mounted the main panel on some white cardstock then onto a cardbase of that lovely turquoise blue.. Voila!

my colours. For example, when I coloured the ground my darkest green was YG67 (a lot of grey), then YG45,
YG13, an YG02. So basically you pick out markers with the FIRST number increasing as you get darker, as
well as the SECOND number increasing as you get darker. This gives you a more natural shadow..

I absolutely adore putting stark, black images against a soft sky… To me it’s one of the most beautiful things one can stamp. I love the sentiments that come in this set, too.. They go really well with the peaceful dandelion floating in the breeze…


I used distress inks to ink up the entire main panel and distressed the distress inks by first sanding, then misting with a little plain water. As you know, the inks react with water and you get a very subtle, but beautiful effect.

I used some lovely Pink Paislee patterened papers and “buttons.” The buttons were plain and had some resist embossing on them so when I inked them with distress markers (Aged Mahogany) a neat little pattern showed through. (ps…I used this week’s iSpy Sketch for the layout.)

I coloured the image with Distress Markers on watercolour paper. I find that it takes a little “fiddling around” with the markers to get the hang of them, but as I tell my students, knowledge transfers and I am finding all of my Copic expertise is helping me get the hang of the blending/shading a little quicker than I expected… YAY!
 

After I was done colouring I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and inked the image with the die on top. I love that look..

I was thrilled when my friend, Jef Gibbons, asked me to record a song in his studio and ultimately be a part of his Project Do Stuf! I chose a tune that I've recently introduced to my Vocal Jazz students and I've fallen in love (all over again) with it... Take a listen if you dare. I did the piano, bass and vocal tracks...

To create the background I coloured the stamp with Distress Markers, misted it with "Gold" Glimmer Mist and stamped! (I also stamped a 2nd and 3rd generation too...)

I got some delicious The Twinery Baker's Twine from Ribbon Carousel and it is hands-down my fav’ twine.. It’s so bright and vivid!! (double rainbow, anyone???) Here’s my card that’s loosely based on a rainbow idea:




I misted plain cream cardstock with various Glimmer Mists and Dylusions Ink Sprays to create a messy rainbow spectrum. I then tied the twine around the card and played with the placement of it for a while. Trust me, it didn’t start out like this, but I fiddled around until I was happy. I stamped the sentiment (from the TSG set Spread Your Wings ) in Archival ink and popped some punched butterflies on top!
